Boston Terriers-Intelligent, loving family dog

I haven’t written about our dog on this blog yet, his name is Elvis, and he is, for lack of knowing specifically, a mutt. He has silky golden retriever hair, but reddish coloring, and a spotted nose like a Spaniel. So we’re really not sure what he is. He’s a pretty good dog, we inherited him when my MIL passed away last year. He’s a bigger dog than I would have chosen though. I would have gone for a dog more like the size of a Boston Terrier.
Aren’t they cute?

I didn’t know much about Boston Terriers until I looked up the breed in The Dog Guide, and I learned that they make an excellent family dog because they have been bred to be companion dogs. They love nothing more than to spend time with their family! They do well with other pets and with children, although they have to be trained not to get too excited and jump up on people. Because they have such a good disposition, the nickname for the breed is “American Gentleman”.
One problem Boston Terriers do have, which I learned from The Dog Guide, is with their eyes, which are large and protruding. Care must be taken not to leave the dog out in the sun too long as it can damage their corneas, and they should not ride in the car with their head out the window because the air pressure can damage their eyes. Otherwise, this is a great dog, whether you have children or other pets or not. If we ever decide to get a second dog, this is a breed I would consider!

I couldn’t understand some parts of this article Boston Terriers-Intelligent, loving family dog, but I guess I just need to check some more resources regarding this, because it sounds interesting.
My first dog was a Boston Terrier. We named Charles Emerson Winchester III after the Mash character from Boston (we called him chester for short). They are wonderful dogs, full of personality. We actually got him from the local pound and he lived with us for about 10 wonderful years. If you are looking at getting a small to mid-size dog, Boston Terriers are a great choice.
