Ever since I wrote about how Guidant recalled tens of thousands of implanted defibrillators on my other blog, I’ve been getting comments and emails from people telling me how their grandma/cousin/friend died because their defibrillator malfunctioned and either delivered too strong of a shock or didn’t shock the person’s heart at all during an episode of arrhythmia. And now I’m kind of freaked out because my Dad has a pacemaker, but when I called to ask him what brand it was or if he had received any kind of letter about a recall or anything, he was sort of vague about it. I want to know if he thinks he should be hiring a product liability attorney or gettting in on a class action lawsuit or something. And most importantly, getting the pacemaker replaced if it was made by Guidant! It’s hard not to worry.

I was one of the ones that emailed you on your other blog because of my grandma. Email me and I will help you with your dad. I know your fear and have the knowledge to help you out a little bit.
I’m sorry I spooked you.
Denise
Denise,
I appreciate the offer, but my Dad is the king of stubborn. I’ll find out from my Stepmom when his next pacemaker checkup is, and I’ll have her see if she can find the paperwork that at least tells what brand it is.
Also, this must be a hot-button issue since this is my second sponsored link relating to this topic. At least I can help by spreading the word a bit with my blogs.
