How do single parents do it?

My husband left for Phoenix last Sunday, for two weeks of MCSE certification “boot camp”. I have been solo-parenting our three kids, which includes having their friends over for play dates, doing all the laundry, paying the bills, grocery shopping, cooking, cleaning (well, I’m letting the cleaning slide a bit)-and I am exhausted! I drop into bed every night completely wiped out.

I know, poor me. I just don’t understand how single parents do it, and I have a whole new respect for them now. I didn’t realize just how much my husband helps around the house until he wasn’t here-turns out, my husband actually does a lot of housework!

I always looked at amazement at my single mom freinds. I also know I never wanted that to be me. Surprise! Now I’m a member of the single mom brigade and it is every bit as hard as it looks!

Right now I am looking at charter schools and trying to figure out if I can afford Christian schools and I would give my right arm to have someone to just talk about this with, bounce ideas, make a co-decision.

Angie-Thanks for leaving a comment! From what I’ve read on your blog, you are doing a great job with your daughter :) Good luck on the school decision.

I hear you! I am always amazed that my Gramma did it (she was widowed) and my mom to an extent while my dad was in Viet nam…

Imagine working 8 hours a day and do all that also. It’s really tough…I know from my own experience. Now, for single working parents…that must be reallllly tough.
