I received a really cute product sample in the mail the other day, it’s a Developmental Stacking Ring from ab toys, which are sold at Genius Babies, and are based on the Amazing Baby book series. It looks like this:

Kaitlyn enjoys playing with this toy. Each of the rings are soft on the outside and squishy/crinkly in the middle, and the black and white polka dotted ring has satin tabs which many babies love to rub between their fingers. It took me a minute to figure out that in order to remove the rings for stacking, I had to snip a couple of threads holding the orange star in place, but once I did that, we got right to work with the stacking.
What I especially like about this stacking toy in particular is that there is no “right” order in which to stack the rings. Other stacking toys have graduated rings that will only go on in a certain order but with this one, it’s up to your baby to decide! What a great way to teach that motor skill without having to take over and say “no, no, that one goes on first”. I think toys like that help teach babies confidence about their ability to make decisions.
This is a great toy and I really appreciate having it. Kaitlyn likes to take the rings off, put them in her little shopping cart, and push them around the house, which is fine with me, it’s her toy! For more great toys from Amazing Baby, check out Genius Babies!
