That Baby CD and DVD

One thing that I do very differently from my parents is letting my kids have a say in what we listen to in the car, not to mention letting them choose what DVDs to watch (of course, we didn’t have DVDs in my day, we had 3 channels of TV, and we LIKED it). That Baby DVD, which Kaitlyn is watching as I type this, has the same songs as the CD, with scenes of children playing and interacting, animated images, and interstitial lessons like the numbers 1 to 10 written on a chalkboard and the alphabet. It’s soothing to watch, and has the amazing soundtrack to go along with it. Kaitlyn’s favorites so far seem to be Neil Diamond’s “Sunday Sun”, with scenes of children playing outside, and “Garden Song (Inch by Inch)”, which was recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary, John Denver, Arlo Guthrie, and David Mallet who wrote the song.

I want to make sure to point out that these songs are not sung by the original artists, but rather by Stephanie Schneiderman, joined on some songs by her sisters Lisa and Kim, and on other songs by prominent musicians from Portland (I assume Oregon). I LOVE songs sung in harmony, always have ever since my twelve years of Choir, and I love the rich harmonies on all of these songs.
