That Baby CD and DVD

One thing that I do very differently from my parents is letting my kids have a say in what we listen to in the car, not to mention letting them choose what DVDs to watch (of course, we didn’t have DVDs in my day, we had 3 channels of TV, and we LIKED it). I refuse to listen to anything with the word “Kidz” in the title, so that has limited our listening to a degree.

And then Parent Bloggers Network asked for volunteers to review That Baby CD and That Baby DVD, “Acoustic Rock Classics For Kids And The Grownups Who Love Them”, and I said yes, please! Finally I was going to get a chance to introduce my kids to songs that I grew up listening to, without having to constantly spin the dial on the radio. The CD arrived, it went into the player in the van, and it has pretty much stayed there ever since! I love it, and you can get a copy for yourself at 20% off by using the coupon code PBN when you order from the site.

Here’s what’s unique about That Baby CD-Rob and Lisi Wolf wanted to market a CD that would contain classic rock songs that the whole family could enjoy listening to. They worked with their friend Stephanie Schneiderman, who produced and arranged the songs, and they market and ship the product from their “headquarters” in Mercer Island, Washington. This isn’t a global company just looking to make a buck, these are parents who have created something unique and of the highest quality.

That Baby DVD, which Kaitlyn is watching as I type this, has the same songs as the CD, with scenes of children playing and interacting, animated images, and interstitial lessons like the numbers 1 to 10 written on a chalkboard and the alphabet. It’s soothing to watch, and has the amazing soundtrack to go along with it. Kaitlyn’s favorites so far seem to be Neil Diamond’s “Sunday Sun”, with scenes of children playing outside, and “Garden Song (Inch by Inch)”, which was recorded by Peter, Paul and Mary, John Denver, Arlo Guthrie, and David Mallet who wrote the song.

I want to make sure to point out that these songs are not sung by the original artists, but rather by Stephanie Schneiderman, joined on some songs by her sisters Lisa and Kim, and on other songs by prominent musicians from Portland (I assume Oregon). I LOVE songs sung in harmony, always have ever since my twelve years of Choir, and I love the rich harmonies on all of these songs.

Oh! I almost forgot the coolest part-That Baby DVD and That Baby CD both come with no-questions-asked money back guarantees! If you don’t love them (which I highly doubt), you get your money back. AND, check this out:

“If your discs get scratched, stepped on, dropped under the car seat, or smeared with peanut butter, we’ll replace them, free of charge. We have kids too. We know how it is.”

Now, how cool is that? Pretty dang cool. For the complete song list and a video you can watch, please visit the That Baby DVD site, and then buy a copy for someone on your Christmas gift! Use the coupon code PBN and get an amazing 20% off! Don’t forget to buy the CD too, and you just might find yourself listening to it when your kids aren’t even in the car :)

Very cool!

Luckily my kids don’t get too hooked on the “Kiddy” songs too much — they love Classical Music (thank you Little Einsteins) and Goo Goo Dolls, REM, Greenday… They love the guitar riffs… This sounds like something they’d life too!

Mimi-My Green Day loving boys like this CD too. Ryan likes the first song “Happiness Runs/Circle Game” because he recognizes it from a Cheerios commercial :)
