If you live anywhere where it gets cold enough to freeze, that is. If you live in Southern California or Hawaii, you probably don’t need this. But everyone else, listen up! It’s cold! Really, really cold, and if you park your car outside overnight like I do, there have been a few mornings where you are sure to have woken up to a windshield completely covered in hard frost, like this:
This is going to take some serious defrosting and scraping.
Good thing I have a slave son who is tall enough to brush all the snow off of the van windshield.
This could take a while.
Hey, let’s lightly spray the windshield with Prestone Windshield De-Icer and let it sit for a minute! And then run the wipers!
Wait a minute, would you look at that? Are you kidding me? 23 years of driving in Michigan, 23 winters of scraping frost and ice off the windshield in the winter, and someone has finally come up with a product that does THIS???
I am never, and I mean NEVER, going to be without a can of this in my van in the winter. Do you know how many times, before Chris and I had kids, that I had to stand in the dark parking lot at work in seven degree weather trying to chip enough ice and frost off the windshield of my car to be able to drive home? It’s a miracle in a can, is what it is.
My husband grabbed the bottle of Windshield Fluid Booster from me and asked if he could have it, and since I so rarely get sent review products that are, well, interesting to a 39 year old man, I said sure he could have it. Besides, he commutes to work down a rather slushy freeway and then drives a short distance down a country road to get to his office building, so I’m sure he runs his windshield wipers more than I do.
I asked him if he noticed a difference after adding it and he said yes, definitely, it seemed to help the wipers run more smoothly and clear more of the gunk off the windshield than without it. Score! Prestone, you have two products that get the thumbs-up from the MomReviews family. Way to go!

I need to get us some of that!! We may live in the South but we live in middle TN on top of a mountain where just yesterday the state road was closed both ways of the mountain because of ice and a 5 car pileup.

Wow, thank you so much for the tip. I am definitely going to be looking for that ASAP since the winter is far from over.

Awesome review! It’s been ages since I’ve had to scrape a windshield like that, but your pics gave me flashbacks. Glad it worked so well for both you and Chris.

I sure needed this yesterday morning! Of course, all I had to deal with was frost, not snow…

Laura-Yikes, that sounds awful! And what’s worse about those pile-ups is the other cars that have to slow down to look, which just makes the traffic worse. Drive carefully!!
Angel-It is snowing so hard here today, and yet the weather forecast for next week is temps in the 40s and maybe rain. Michigan weather is bizarre that way. So I’m keeping the Windshield De-Icer close by! lol
Julie-Thanks! I was actually concerned that I wouldn’t have a chance to use the De-Icer before my review date-ha!
Great review. I think we need that now in the UK with our crazy weather (sunny then snowing), and the global warming (or global cooling – lol).
You sold me. We are from Welland, Ontario, Canada and scrapping the windshield has been a nightmare this year. I will check Walmart later today for this stuff.
Good Layout and Design. I like your blog. I just added your RSS feed to my Google News Reader. .
