I received a DVD of Bob the Builder: On-Site – Roads and Bridges from Parent Bloggers Network, and I was hoping that it would give Kaitlyn a break from Dora and the WonderPets and show her that there are other animated characters doing other things besides hanging out with monkeys and rescuing baby sea turtles but, alas, it was not to be.
This DVD has Bob, Lofty and Roley visiting real construction sites to see how roads and bridges are made. The whole process is explored from digging the first hole to smoothing out the final coat of asphalt, and real machines are shown doing the work. Kaitlyn was interested for the first 15 minutes, but didn’t have the patience to watch the entire one-hour movie. I have known plenty of construction-vehicle obsessed children, however, that I’m sure would love a movie like this. Most of my fellow testers in the Parent Bloggers Network said their kids were fascinated by it. I think it’s just that my daughter is not all that into construction vehicles.
Now, if those construction vehicles had to go over a lake, through a jungle and up a mountain in order to rescue a baby pigeon stuck on the top of a flagpole, that would be a different story
You can pick up a copy of Bob the Builder: On-Site Roads and Bridges for the Bob the Builder lover in your family, and be sure to read the rest of the reviews on the Parent Bloggers Network blog.

Thanks for the information. At least Bob the Builder has some educational value much like Dora. Now if the toymakers can just keep the lead out of the toys we’ll be in great shape!

Promo girl-Yeah, I don’t even want to think about all those Bob the Builder toys that are probably made in China and coated with lead. Not to mention all those dollar store toys that I used to think were a cheap way to entertain my kids!
Elizabeth I caught the debate the other night and the mention of lead in toys. This all sounds great on paper but if we can only inspect 1-2% of all incoming containers for things like hazardous/terroristic type threats they’ll never scan them for lead.
Hopefully some of these people and more importantly the US companies selling these products will have some common sense. Bottom line is they use these factories because it’s cheap. Hopefully that changes.
I changed the name as promo girl can have some other weird meanings
