Dry cleaning pickup for busy New Yorkers

Proof that you really can get everything you need online-a website called Hamperville provides Online dry cleaning & laundry service to busy New York City residents. Honestly, it’s a brilliant idea. They have an @Home plan and an @Work plan, and users log on, choose a monthly plan, and then schedule pickups of their clothing as late as 11:00 pm. For example, having 4 bags of laundry picked up from home, cleaned, and returned costs $75.00 a month. I’ve never lived in New York, but I’m going to assume that price is pretty reasonable for not having to schlep your laundry bags to the laundromat and back.
Right now, Hamperville is only in New York City, but they are planning to expand. Meanwhile, it’s just those lucky New York City folks who can have their dry cleaning or laundry picked up, cleaned, and returned, and schedule it all online!

We had one of the first shop at home companies up here in the late 90’s - Shoplink. They started to get into doing laundry at the very end and the prices were about the same 8-9 years ago. They ended up going out of business but those that proceeded them did really well like Peapod.
This should flourish in a tight geographic region like the City. I imagine they will use people on bikes like the couriers. Interesting and the prices are excellent - especially for that area.
i always wonder what is the only thing that the intrawebs still don’t know. hehehhe.
nice post!
That does sound pretty affordable for a big city. If I had frequent dry cleaning needs I would definitely go for that.
LiteralDan’s last blog post..Frosty’s premies
Heather-Now there would be a sight to see, a bike courier loaded up with laundry bags!
Laarni-I know, right? What a genius idea though, laundry pickup and delivery. Now if only STARBUCKS would deliver, that would be perfect!! lol
Dan-That’s it for me too, I never buy clothes that need dry cleaning! But I guess those fancy New Yorkers do
