Back on March 26, I wrote a very important post about a campaign called Dare to Wear White. The post got ZERO comments, which might be because it’s a topic that is uncomfortable to talk about. But ladies, we all have periods, and for some of us, we have heavy periods that disrupt our lives for a major amount of time every month. I would be doing a disservice to my female readers if I didn’t bring this topic up for discussion.

MomCentral did a survey of 1300 women, and learned that:

• 75% of women reported that their heavy periods negatively impact their quality of life by disrupting their family and social life, regular activities, and moods.
• Almost 60% said that their periods negatively affect their sexual relationships.
• More than 50% of women with heavy periods said that they dread leaving the house on their worst days.

There’s a procedure now called NovaSure, which is performed in a doctor’s office, and what it is is Endometrial Ablation. The excess tissue that is causing the heavy bleeding is removed, it takes only 4 and half minutes on average, and it only has to be performed once. If you want to learn more, you can visit the NovaSure website and print out a list of questions to ask your doctor, and also find a doctor in your area who performs this procedure.
