Win Burn Jel, must-have item for burn treatment

by Elizabeth on May 7, 2008

Did you know that every 25 seconds, someone in the United States is burned or scalded in their home? Scalds from hot liquids are the leading cause of accidental death in the home for children from birth to age 4 and account for 60 percent of the burn injuries for children up to age 14. The most likely place for children under 4 to be burned is right in their own kitchen.

When a burn occurs, it’s crucial to act quickly. Most of us are probably like me and immediately want to put the burn under cold water. But that just cools the surface, and as the heat from the burn rises, it counteracts the cooling effect of the water, which is just evaporating anyway. Burn Jel is water-based, but acts as a heat exchanger. It also contains Lidocaine for immediate pain relief, and Tea Tree Oil which is naturally antibacterial.

I’ve got ten cartons of Burn Jel to give away, it’s recommended that you keep the bottle right in your kitchen. To be entered to win a carton, please leave a comment on this post. The contest will end on Wednesday, May 21st at 9:00 am EST, when I will draw ten winners at random from all valid comments. I will contact winners directly for their shipping info, then forward it to the sponsor for direct shipping. Please make sure to leave a valid email address with your comment. If you aren’t chosen as a winner, pick up Burn Jel at drugstores like CVS, Walgreens, Rite Aid, and at Wal-Mart.
Good luck!

I so need this, if you knew how many times I have burned myself – you’d cry instead of laugh!

5 Michelle May 7, 2008 at 11:27 am

I hate to admit how often I could really use this product in my kitchen, or even on camping trips. I can’t tell you how many times I have burned my hand on those crazy metal weiner sticks! Just about exactly a year ago, I gave myself second degree burns across my hand and three fingers, when making a hot sticky caramel mixture for a dessert. It was painful beyond words, and I would have tried anything to numb the pain right after it occurred. I would love to be entered in your giveaway.

This is a really useful thing to have – especially with little kid hands exploring dangerous things in my house! And of course, b/c of my general clumsiness in the kitchen.
