Hasbro Toys-Hot Summer Toy Event!

by Elizabeth on July 26, 2008

Okay, so it’s blazing hot outside and you might not be thinking about doing your holiday shopping, but the fine folks at Hasbro and Marine Toys for Tots are already thinking ahead. They want to help you avoid standing in long lines waiting to get the hottest toys for your kids by offering you a chance to shop from home, get free shipping, AND provide a toy or game for a child in need. Sweet!

Did you or your parents ever do anything crazy to get the hottest holiday toy? I’m proud to say I never fought with another parent over the last Tickle Me Elmo, but I did once get up at 5 AM to go stand in line outside KB toys in the mall on “Black Friday” (the day after Thanksgiving, here in the U.S., that’s a day when stores have huge sales starting really early in the morning). What was I in line for? The Fisher Price Farm. It was going to be Ryan’s first Christmas and I wanted him to get that Farm, and it was marked down to something like $10 from 6-10 AM. That was totally worth standing in line for! Plus, I’m kind of nuts about shopping on Black Friday, I don’t know what it is, I just love getting a good sale price on something I would have bought anyway!

Hurry now, the Hasbro Summer Toy Event ends August 2nd! Get a jump start on holiday shopping from the comfort of your own home while simultaneously saving money on shipping and giving to charity. By going to the Hasbro Toy Event site, you can buy select Hasbro Hot ’08 toys or games without the shipping fee and Amazon.com, target.com, toysrus.com, and walmart.com are also teaming up with Hasbro on the event.

As part of the promotion, for each toy or game purchased during that time, Hasbro will donate one toy or game, and match up to $400,000 in toy and game donations to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, an organization that Hasbro has supported for the past ten years.

Plus Hasbro has created a humorous viral video that supports the promotion. Watch!

I never had a Hasbro Toy but guess what, I worked for a company that made the steel moulds to make all the plastic parts of Mr. and Mrs Potato Head. That was really interested because we had to assemble all the parts to see if they were assembling well or not so I can say: I played with Hasbro Toys.

I love Black Friday shopping too!! My first stop is usually Kohls! I’m also one to think about holiday shopping year round, making my lists as the kids desire something or I think of something that would be perfect for someone…

I recently was talking about this very thing, how I had only one time stood in line for a “hot” Christmas toy which was the Wii. Hope to never do that again! Thanks for the post, enjoyed it.
