Win a $100 Gas Card for your Suggestion!

by Elizabeth on August 9, 2008

This Giveaway is Closed. The winning suggestion comes from Caryn at Rockin’ Mama, who suggested:

My friends and I love to go to coffee shops. I am suggesting to Starbucks and Coffee Bean and Peets to maybe set up a small area (like a table) with some toys, books, etc. for the kids!

Congratulations Caryn!

Have you ever wished you could give suggestions to a company as to how they could improve? Let them know exactly what you don’t like or what you think they could do better? Some businesses have a “Suggestion Box” where you can drop in a piece of paper, but who KNOWS what happens to those, right? You want to be able to see the suggestion you’ve made and what the company’s response is, right? Well, you can! SuggestionBox.com is the online site where companies create their own virtual “Suggestion Box”. Here’s what Founder Jeff Whitton has to say about the site:

“SuggestionBox.com was founded on the principle that ‘the customer is always right’. While customers have great ideas and companies want to listen to what they have to say; there has never been a place where those ideas could easily be submitted and followed – from idea to implementation,” said Jeff Whitton, Founder of SuggestionBox.com. “The number of Suggesters and suggestions on SuggestionBox.com continue to grow daily. Suggesters have already created suggestion boxes for several hundred companies of all sizes, demonstrating an incredible interest in providing valuable insights to the companies they interact with on a daily basis.’’

You can view your own history of suggestions (click on My Suggestion tab, then My Suggestions again), but it’s up to the company if they want to make suggestions public and allow everyone to see them. In addition, every Suggester has the option to make his/her own suggestion private or public. To give you an idea of what it looks like, Addison Avenue is an example of a company that has made its suggestions public.

How to enter for the chance to win a $100 gas card:
- Visit www.suggestionbox.com and take a look around. There are Featured SuggestionBoxes as well as Popular Suggestions. You can vote for, comment on, and follow your favorite suggestions to see how the company is responding!
- Come back here and leave a comment with a REAL first name or blog alias, no keywords please, and tell me your suggestion to any company. If you could get a company to change something, what would it be?
– I’ll vote for the best suggestion and determine the winner! Who gets a $100 gas card! w00t!

Rules: You must use a real name and valid email address when leaving your comment. You must leave your suggestion in your comment as well. Comments that do not include a suggestion will not be counted towards the prize of a $100 gas card. Enter by Saturday, August 23, 2008 at 9:00 AM EST. The determination of the winner of this contest is solely up to me and my personal opinion. If there are several that I like equally, I will use random.org to choose a winner. I will then email the winner for their mailing address, if I don’t get a reply in three days, I’ll choose a new winner. Good luck everybody!!!

My suggestion to GEICO…

Stop the Caveman commercials. They’re old. All I want to do when I see one is run to any company BUT Geico. Think of the money YOU’D save

My suggestions to Subway:

I would love drive thru windows. Its hard with two kids to have to get them both out of the car to get a sub.

I wanted to say more but you only get 140 characters! The rest was that I want my kids to eat healthier but its a pain to get them both out of car. So its just easier to go to McDonalds.

My suggestion is to Toyota: step up production on your plug-in Hybrid. I love my 2002 Prius, and I really want a plug-in with the option of dirving on electricity for a few miles before switching to the hybrid engine.

My suggestion is to Toys R Us. We had to rent a U-Haul to get a swingset we bought at toy r us home. Why don’t they offer shipping on large bulky items that you buy in-store??

We recently took our kids to Worlds of Fun Amusement park. Here is my suggestion for them:

PLEASE hire people for the Camp Snoopy (kids) section that LIKE KIDS. I couldn’t believe how many of the adults working there were mean!

All Groceries stores. To pack the like items together. trying to get the sackers to do what you want. Cold with cold. cat/dog food together. no-edible together. it’s so annoying to get home and have to search the bags to put cold items away. Why can’t they train their employee’s better. So, that they will listen to the customers.

“For all stores, but especially grocery stores” When I was pregnant with my twins, I loved how BabiesRUs had parking up close for pregnant women. Why don’t more places do that?

11 brandy w August 11, 2008 at 1:02 am

to walmart supercenters. you need to pay attention to your groceries, and watch for expirations. i feel everytime i go there i see a rotten fruit/veggie or something already expired

I left a comment to Zappos Shoe Store. They used to do price matching, but no longer do. I wrote (under my real name) to Zappos:

I really miss the price matching that you used to do. Can you bring it back for a month or so because of the recession?

Carl’s Junior, change advertisting angencies, your commericals are gross!

15 Angela August 12, 2008 at 11:14 am

Something that has been really irking me lately. We have SO much great produce here lately and I love to shop at walmart but they stock peaches from california or beyond when the best peaches in the world are grown a whole 20 miles away. I suggested that they have a section in their store for locally grown produce!

I just lost a package from Amazon through the USPS. When I called USPS to try and track down where it had been delivered to, they informed me that once it was listed as delivered they no longer kept a record of where it was actually delivered to and that my only action was to ask the actual carrier what he did with it. He has no idea, so Im out of luck! Whatever! Tell the USPS to keep record of where packages are actually delivered to, that way mistakes can be corrected

17 Jacquie August 14, 2008 at 6:24 pm

Our local grocers carry salmon from our state that is shipped out of state to be processed and shipped back so it’s an exorbant amount of money for us local people to pay while CA gets it quite a bit cheaper. It’s not fair and luckily we fish so usually we don’t have to get it at the store but what a rip off it is to us and our resources!

18 CAROLYN August 17, 2008 at 9:24 am

I’m sick of hearing about people who have repeat DUI’s or bad driving records losing and getting back their licenses over and over and then hearing they have killed someone and they’re just fine. If someone has repeat offenses on their record, take their license away and let them ride the bus. I’ve worked hard to be a good driver. Why should I care about someone who doesn’t respect driving and hurts and endangers others!

19 Bee August 17, 2008 at 1:49 pm

All stores should have a pop up sani wipe attached to shopping baskets. I have seen some really nasty shopping carts and feel that sani wipes will help reduce some illnesses.

20 Cindy August 17, 2008 at 4:43 pm

My suggestions was to Taco Bell but it could be for any fast food restaurant. I wrote:
I think there should be 2 menus in the drive-thru so I can decide what I want while waiting instead of being rushed to choose.

21 Barbara Baker August 18, 2008 at 12:34 am

My suggestion is for Scope mouth wash:

Come up with some fresh new flavors that are kid friendly and “for the kids”. Flavors like orange, green-apple, grape and/or cotton candy flavors (use some imagination). I know there are other brands out there for “pre-brush mouth rinse”, but GEEZE…we need mouth wash for after they brush (especially for those who follow their parents and brush and rinse just as often)…you are suppose to be the leader of all mouth wash. So, get to it and make some outrageous flavors for the kids.

when Websites want you to create an Account just to look around ,read reviews etc … They loose alot of potential Customers this way!! “I” want to check out the site first before deciding to sign up or not .

When I came to your website (I left and came back a few times) I was never able to read the rules about this contest because other links to the website popped up on top of the rules. Aggravating at the least and devestating to your site. Also the font is small. Sorry for posting critism about your site. But I am trying to be helpful

24 Cathy Cook August 19, 2008 at 9:00 pm

My comment is to Wal-mart and all retailers who give us our checks back. Please install a shredder at each register so we don’t have to walk out of the store with our check…it’s just not safe and I’m tire of little torn checks in my purse or car.

25 Lauren August 20, 2008 at 12:54 am

My suggestion would be for the library. I’m a huge fan of reading and I think to get more teens to read, they should ask for help from actual teens and young adults. Get the ones that already love to read to help you come up with ways to get other teens in the library and maybe reading more. Reading in general is a lot of fun to me, and I think people should do it more…but not only that, it’s a beneficial part of school and everyday life. It’s a great skill to hone as much as you can…especially while you’re young.

And libraries need to show teens there are more books then just the ones school has you read. You might find a book you love if you just check…and show books for all types of religions, ethnic backgrounds, ages, sexualities, etc. etc.

So yes, that would be my advice if I could talk to libraries in general.

My suggestion to GEICO…

Stop the Caveman commercials.

28 Deborah August 21, 2008 at 9:45 am

I would suggest that more grocery stores carry local produce and support local farmers as opposed to shipping across country.

29 lorene August 21, 2008 at 1:13 pm

My suggestion is for grocery stores as well as any other stores that sell food, check the expiration date and if the product is expired, throw it away. I recently bought soup at cvs and in my hurried state did not check the date. When I was going to heat it up for my 2 year old, I checked it and it was 6 months old!

30 phillip stacy August 22, 2008 at 12:52 am

Simplify websites so they load faster, get rid of pop ups and don’t use flash
where forms have to be filled in because it blocks form fillers forcing people to hand type in data.

well with all of the missing children here in the USA– you would think that we would have a better system in place to track our children, i mean if you can put a small chip in a dog for pet recovery why int he world do we not have a way to track our children should they be snatched or taken from us, while i am not comparing children to pets, i feel it is important to have some kind of small chip attached to a piece of jewelery or even a chip that we insert into the bottom of the foot , something with a gps tracking system, so if a child is taken or lost it is as easy as activating this device to find them, i know some would feel this is an invasion of privacy but as a parent of 3 i would volenteerely ask for my children to all be outfitted with something like this– thanks for listening

LOVE the Caveman commercials.

34 Laura H August 22, 2008 at 6:27 pm

I’m huge into school wellness. Grocery stores across the USA have so many products that a mom doesn’t have a clue what products are more healthy than others! We can’t possibly read all the labels. After reading Eat This, Not That for Kids, I came up with an idea. Grocery Stores should have their end isles labeled as “How to Pack a Healthy Lunch.” Only items with strict nutritional guidelines should be sold there with nutriotnal info posted on the products. The food companies would earn that space by passing a small savings onto the customer. Parents will be more aware of healthy food choices and it will force companies into making better products.

My suggestion is for all retail outlets… Have one line for all registers. It’s really frustrating to pick a short line only to still be standing there when all other lines have moved swiftly through.
