Cabbage Patch Kids are back!

It’s the 25th Anniversary of the original release of Cabbage Patch Kids, and to celebrate, Limited Edition 25th Anniversary Cabbage Patch Kids are available, but only for a limited time. The special 25th Anniversary Kids are remakes of the original Kids, and they come packaged with a silver anniversary baby spoon and a special 25th Anniversary Birth Certificate with “Adoption Papers”.

Thanks to Team Mom, we received our Kid to much excitement. I was in High School in 1983, although I do remember the stories in the paper and on the news about people fighting over the last CK Kid on toy store shelves. Cabbage Patch Kids set off a frenzy among toy and doll collectors, and they were scooping up dolls, clothes, and accessories as fast as they could. I haven’t read or seen anything about any mania at stores this time around, so you should be able to get one without incident.

As you may know, Cabbage Patch Kids come with a birth certificate and a paper your child can sign to officially adopt their kid. But I have a confession to make- I can’t find the birth certificate! So, I can tell you that this is Mayme Lucille, but I can’t tell you when her “birthday” is.

Isn’t she cute? Kaitlyn likes playing “baby” with her, lying her down on a nest of blankets and covering her up for a “nap”. It’s been bugging me that the doll’s name is spelled “Mayme” and not “Mamie”, so I finally googled “cabbage patch kid mayme” and got a very interesting possible answer. It seems that Woody Kling, a very famous and highly acclaimed television writer who was the head writer for The Carol Burnett Show and All In The Family, also wrote the Cabbage Patch Kids Christmas Special for TV in 1983. His mother’s name was Mayme. Coincidence?

Check out the Cabbage Patch Kids website for information about the 25th Anniversary Limited Edition dolls, plus games and a lot more info. Thanks again to Team Mom for including me in this fun campaign!

Mimi- Does that mean you’re going? :) I saw on the website how you can send your Cabbage Patch Kid to “baby camp” to get fixed up, too, how cute!

Our daughter is going to turn 27 this next week, and we still have her 22 year old Cabbage Patch doll named Sadie. :)

That is interesting about the name, I never would have thought to google the names, lol. I got a red head one as well, I think she has a pink dress. I’m too much of a collector to actually open her box though. I’m hoping to find my first CPK kid though at the store, I played with her so much the thread for her fingers & toes fell apart :)

In 2004, Fluffy and I visited the home of the Cabbage Patch Dolls. Fluffy said that it was magical, it was like a fairy tale to experience the many areas ie hospital, school, play area outside. We were in a group of people that witnessed the birth of the newest
Cabbage Patch Member. So if you have an opportunity and are in Cleveland, Georgia, stop and enjoy this little bit of history of The Cabbage Patch Kids.
