Win the VeggieTales:Abe and the Amazing Promise DVD

by Elizabeth on March 17, 2009

abedvdBig Idea, Inc. has released a new Bible-based story adventure starring Bob the Tomato, Larry the Cucumber and all of their veggie friends, called Abe and the Amazing Promise.  Bob and Jr. Asparagus (who is impatient to finish the show so he can have the cookies his Mom promised him) answer a fan’s letter about waiting by telling the story of Abraham and Sarah, who waited for a promised child. Bob and Jr. use their imaginations to transport themselves to a film set where they are going to interview Abraham.

Bob attempts to interview  “Abe” while dealing with a wacky nurse, cranky French Peas, spitting camels, and an impatient Jr. Asparagus. Abe tells the story of how he and Sarah left their home and family and ended up waiting fifteen years for their child to be born. Jr. finally understands why it’s important to wait, the end.

The “Silly Song With Larry” is titled “Sneeze if you Need to”, and I’m sorry to say, I did not like it at all. Previous Silly Songs have been absolutely brilliant, there are some that my kids and I still sing bits of to this day, like “I Love My Lips” and “The Cheeseburger Song”. But this song, about the importance of not holding in a sneeze, just makes no sense and the tune is not memorable.

The second episode is called “Blunders in Boo-Boo Ville”.  Jacques (Larry the Cucumber) is an inventor who takes shortcuts that lead to inventions that are less than functional. His friend Maurice (Bob the Tomato) is upset with him for never finishing anything and not taking time to be a good friend, and Larry learns why it’s important to be patient and think things through. There are several songs sprinkled throughout as well.

As always, the visuals are eye-popping, with some of the most detailed backgrounds you’ll ever see in an animated kids’ show.  Bonus Features- “Behind the Scenes”- Making of, studio commentary, art gallery, discussion guide, “Fun and Games”- Video trivia, a memory game, silly song singalong, interactive storybook, and how to draw.  This DVD is available everywhere for a suggested price of $14.95.

Nice idea! Well, since I have 16 grandchildren I would give it to them. Nothing like a good story for the kids.

With public television becoming increasingly disturbing, I love not having to worry what my son is watching when I turn on a Veggie Tales movie! So, if I won, this new movie would find it’s way into my little man’s Easter basket! Thanks for the chance to win a copy!

It’s hard to go wrong with Veggie Tales. My daughter loves the Jonah DVD, and the whole “Pirates that don’t do anything” song. I would like to check this one out…most of them are extremely clever and well-written.

I would give this DVD to my 2 boys, they are in love with Veggie Tales (and it’s about the only thing I allow them to watch) so it would be met with great excitement!

I would give this to my 4 children. We recently cut off cable because of all the bad things on there and my kids are huge fans of veggie tales.
