Review:
I gave the game to my 10 year old son to play. He was enthusiastic about it at first, but got frustrated with the game very quickly. Either he skipped over the tutorials at the beginning or there weren’t enough of them, because he couldn’t figure out what to do and where to go. There’s a companion Strategy guide available separately, but we didn’t get that and couldn’t find any online walkthroughs either. He finally gave up because he couldn’t progress through the game. My guess is that this game is for older players and especially ones who played the original Xbox 360 game and know basically what to do. More information about the game is available through this widget.

Probably your son did not like game because too inconvenient management (to me so it it seemed), in some cases, instead of a jump it turned out to squat, and constantly varying kind of the chamber complicated management of the player.
p. s. Certainly if to understand, it is possible to get used quickly and to the such.

Yes, I have played this version of Blue Dragon Plus on my DSi and must admit I was somewhat disappointed. Even though I played it on XBox it was still lacking some decent challenges but my son gave up on it pretty quickly, even though he had the strategy guide.
