April 22, 2009 is Earth Day, and both Nickelodeon and Noggin (Nick’s collaboration with PBS) have special episodes planned with some of their most popular shows. Toot & Puddle, a new preschool series from National Geographic Kids Entertainment, encourages exploration and adventure, both at home and afar, by piquing kids’ natural curiosity about the world around them. Based on the best-selling book series by author Holly Hobbie, Toot and Puddle is the heart-warming story of two best friends, from Pocket Hollow, who find adventure wherever they go.
On April 22nd, Toot and Puddle will learn about pollution, recycling, and living “green” in two special episodes. I received a sneak peak DVD of the episodes to review, and both Kaitlyn and I enjoyed getting to know Toot and Puddle! These are the Earth Day episodes:
In “Recycle Cycle,” Toot and Puddle discover a pollution problem in Pocket Pond and the whole gang rallies to clean up their home environment. Toot makes a boat out of garbage he finds, and they learn about how to separate trash into recycling.
In “Being Green”, Toot & Puddle visit Uncle Bertie in Scotland. In the process, the pig pals get an enjoyable lesson in living green.
Check your local listings for the special Earth Day programming on Nickelodeon and Noggin on April 22nd!

Interesting, good article.
Cool! I think the go-green shows are a great way to get kids thinking in the right direction. When living Green is introduced at a young age then respecting the environment and resources becomes an easy part of life.

That’s very cool. Hooray for teaching kids to be green! Even if we need a couple of pigs to do it.

My 14 month old and her 5 year old brother just love toot and puddle. We recycle in the home and my son really gets a lot out of the Noggin shows – they are great!
Great! Another educational entertainment!
