Jim Breuer Clear The Air

Jim BreuerWhen was the last time you watched a DVD that had you laughing so hard that you stopped making noise for a minute and just shook all over, face locked in a gigantic smile? For me, it was over the last hour as I watched the comedy special Jim Breuer: Let’s Clear the Air.  Even the DVD menus are funny, you’ll want to stop on each one to watch more hilarious Breuer bits.

At the beginning of the DVD, after we see Breuer helping his Dad get ready to go and get a peek inside his house,  Breuer says something I really liked-”I’m a son, a husband, and a Dad-and then a comedian”.  In “Let’s Clear The Air”, he touches on his life when he first became famous, but quickly moves into hilarious stories about how his life has changed since becoming a husband and Dad. I took notes as I watched so I’d remember my favorite parts of the DVD, and it was pretty much ALL OF THEM:

stories about teaching Dave Chapelle to drive, filming the movie ‘Half Baked’, getting into his SNL “Goat Boy” character, impressions of Norm McDonald and Sylvester Stallone, what he thought it would mean to be successful in Hollywood, traveling from Long Island into New York City, does a great impression of an airplane flying over the house, trying to parent his three girls after a night of partying (learned his lesson about why you can’t party like you used to once you become a parent), why husbands should make sure their wives get plenty of rest (if Mom doesn’t nap, it’s not fun for anyone), how becoming a parent changed him, why heavy metal bands should record children’s music (loved his impression of Metallica’s James Hetfield singing BINGO), AC/DC doing Row Row Row Your Boat, joining in on his girls’ imaginary games

In other words, the whole DVD is clutch-your-aching-sides-from-laughing-so-hard funny, and although it’s unrated, it was pretty family-friendly. Use your own judgement on whether your older kids could watch this with you.

Jim Breuer: Let’s Clear the Air is out in stores now and on Amazon.com. Thank you to Paramount Home Entertainment for sending me a copy to review.
