Boiron Homeopathic Cough, Cold, & Flu Medicines

Last year, my pediatrician told me that the FDA had released a report saying they no longer felt comfortable recommending over-the-counter children’s cough and cold medicines to relieve symptoms in children. Apparently, because the dosages are simply based on a fraction of the dosages recommended for adults, they were no longer sure those medicines were safe!  That’s not very good news for kids who are coughing or sneezing or both, so what alternatives do we parents have?

Homeopathy is used by millions of patients in more than 65 countries, and has been around for more than 200 years. Boiron, world leader in homeopathic medicine, sent us Children’s Oscillococcinum® for flu-like symptoms and Children’s Coldcalm® Pellets for colds. Parents will be able to more easily find these safe and reliable over-the-counter (OTC) medicines in the children’s aisle along with Boiron’s established Children’s Chestal® for coughs.

I figure it can’t hurt to try these products the next time one of my kids gets sick. In my personal experience, any kind of medicine is just to ease symptoms enough to allow for easier sleeping or eating. It’s going to take a week to 10 days for most kids to get over any kind of cold no matter what. Have you used homeopathic medicine?
