At dinnertime, we are pretty traditional – meat, veggies, and a starch side dish. Our favorite starchy sides include mashed potatoes, rice, creamy pasta, and macaroni and cheese. I especially like macaroni and cheese with chicken, either grilled or fried. Sometimes I make the “blue box” mac-o-cheese (as my husband calls it), but lately I’ve been making Velveeta Shells & Cheese. When I make steamed carrots or broccoli as the veggie, I like to dip them in the creamy Velveeta sauce!

We love Mac and Cheese! My 21 year old son has been eating it all his life and I think that he could eat Mac and Cheese everyday! I think the best side of dinner would have to be some sort of Mac and Cheese!

My family loves mac & cheese as a side dish for dinner but I like to add mushrooms, bell peppers & other veggies to it to increase the nutritional value. A lot of kids won’t eat their veggies…this is a sneaky (and yummy!) way to fit them into the meal.

We love potatoes, in fact they very well may be my favorite food. Potatoes can do everything like chicken they can be country style mashed, italian with tomatoes and onions, mexican with the right spices and cheese. Potatoes win for me. lol

For me, it s family…coming together at the end of a busy day to reconnect, recharge and renew their spirit.
The simplest meal can be so special when it is shared…
The “best side of dinner” is sitting down at the table, looking across it, and seeing the faces of four of the most beautiful children God ever graced any one human with! My SIX grandchildren are the light of my life, but only four of them are old enough to eat mac & cheese yet. One granddaughter doesn’t think a meal is being served if macaroni & cheese isn’t on the table!
The “best side of dinner” to me is being able to share my love for my family and for cooking through a meal. I love both so much it is fun to share and spread the joy around!

As to what I think of side dishes, I have to relate that my husband and son are huge fans of Velveeta Shells & Cheese, so much so that whenever we have it as side dish, usually with flank steak or chicken, they argue over who gets the larger portion! My husband always says that Velveeta Shells & Cheese beat out the blue box by a mile because they are so creamy and stick to the shell pasta better, making them more satisfying for the cheese conoisseur, like himself! My son loves the pasta because it doesn’t get “mushy” like blue box pasta, and he feels the Velveeta has a richer flavor than dried cheese mix. I know that when we have dinner together as a family at least twice a week, we can connect with one another and feel closer.
best side of dinner is to get the family together and share how everyone’s day was and bond.

You can NEVER go wrong with mashed potatoes. We eat them at least twice a week. Sometimes light, sometimes heavy, sometimes plain and sometimes flavored. Always good!
