When I was a kid, we drove to Florida twice for Spring Break. Before we left on the first trip, my Dad bought a CB radio and installed it in our van. I wish I could remember what his “call sign” was, but I do vividly remember him getting on the CB while we were on the highway and asking truckers ahead of us if there was any construction or other road delays. That must have been so fun for him, realizing that there was a way to talk to people in other vehicles.
When BearCatWarehouse.com asked me to take a look at their site, I immediately remembered those long drives to Florida and my Dad on the CB. In addition to selling CB radios, they also sell Uniden brand scanners, two way radios, surveillance cameras, and more.
Thinking about my Dad and his CB made me realize that people must still be using them, truckers and even people like my Dad, people taking long trips who want to be able to know what to look out for on the road up ahead, because even with cell phones, you still need radio to chat an an open channel. Then I saw on their site that there are Nascar uniden scanners. I’ve never been to Nascar, so it surprised me that there are radio scanners that people can buy and take to the races to listen in on the channels being used by the drivers and pit crew. I would imagine that if I were into Nascar, that would be a pretty cool thing to have!
Two way radios I’m more familiar with, my boys used to have a set when they were little and they would run around the house giggling and shouting “OVER” into them. There are still lots of places where cell phones don’t work, so it seems that two way radios would be useful to take on hikes or camping, anywhere where a cell phone might not work but you’ll need to stay in touch.
Take a look at BearCatWarehouse.com if you are in the market for any of the products I mentioned above. And if you feel like leaving a comment, let me know if you own a scanner, CB or two way radio, and what you use it for!

Really good post, I just checked out a few other of your posts and I’m going to have to bookmark this blog. The whole running round the house shouting OVER is so close to home.
