Next month I’m headed to Chicago again, this time for the Brands & Bloggers Summit, and once again I’m planning to rent a car since we are currently sharing one vehicle and it’s a not very fuel efficient minivan.  And once again, I’m wishing that someone would open a U-Save discount car rental place in this part of the state!

Located at both airports and in convenient neighborhood locations,  U-Save has the car or truck you need for your summer road trip.

Even though gas prices are currently low, you still want a fuel efficient vehicle so you aren’t stopping for gas more than necessary. And, if you are traveling with your kids and all the stuff that a family takes on a trip (you should see our van when we just go for an overnight stay!), you probably want a van or minivan. Check with your local U-Save to see what newer models they have, those will be more fuel efficient.

Personally, I really love road trips and driving, and after a disastrous experience taking the Amtrak train to Chicago last year (it took 5 1/2 hours to get there from East Lansing, seriously), I have become a fan of just renting a car.  Plus, rental agencies have newer model cars with perks like XM Satellite Radio which I LOVE.

On the U-Save website, go to the Find a U-Save box and search to see if there is one near you.  Enter a city or zip code or airport, the dates you’ll pick up and drop off the vehicle, and any discount codes, and you can see what vehicles are available and what the rates will be.  And then go enjoy your summer vacation!
