Dear Husband: Please Take Down The Christmas Lights Already!

The hanging of the icicle lights along the edge of our roof has always been my husband’s job. We have a one-story house, so it’s just a matter of setting up a ladder and going up and down clipping the lights to the clips he keeps up all year round. Well, it’s February 18th, and our Christmas lights are still up!

I do understand, I mean, it’s a pain to drag the ladder out, set it up, go up and unhook a section of lights, come down, move the ladder, go back up, unhook the next section, come down again. I certainly don’t want to be in charge of it! If I could, I would totally hire someone to do the Christmas light hanging and taking down.

In the Chicago area, there’s a company called Holiday Creations that handles every step of the Christmas decoration process, from helping you design your lighting display, to installing the lights, running the extension cords, even predicting your electrical needs.  Customers can contact them any time – even on Christmas Day – if there’s a problem.

Then, at the end of the season, HC Lights will come and not only take down your lights, but also box them up and store them for you until next year!  And, they guarantee your lights will be down by January 25th, which is a little late for me, but a lot better than still having them up after Valentine’s Day.

Unfortunately for me, we don’t live near Chicago, which means my Christmas lights are probably staying up a little longer. Hopefully Chris will take them down before Memorial Day :)
