I was born on January 30th, but I was six weeks premature. Which is probably why this list of traits for people born in January really does not describe me at all:

JANUARY: Stubborn and hard-hearted. Ambitious and serious. Loves to teach and be taught. Always looking at people’s flaws and weaknesses. Likes to criticize. Hardworking and productive. Smart, neat and organized. Sensitive and has deep thoughts. Knows how to make others happy. Quiet unless excited or tensed. Rather reserved. Highly attentive. Resistant to illnesses but prone to colds. Romantic but has difficulties expressing love. Loves children. Loyal. Has great social abilities yet easily jealous. Very stubborn and money cautious.

Okay, I am stubborn, I do love children, and I do have a bad habit of criticizing, but smart, neat and organized? QUIET?? Bwahahahahaha!

Six weeks premature meant I was due to be born in March, so let’s look at that one instead:

MARCH: Attractive personality. Sexy. Affectionate. Shy and reserved. Secretive. Naturally honest, generous and sympathetic. Loves peace and serenity. Sensitive to others. Loves to serve others. Easily angered. Trustworthy. Appreciative and returns kindness. Observant and assesses others. Revengeful. Loves to dream and fantasize. Loves traveling. Loves attention. Hasty decisions in choosing partners. Loves home decors. Musically talented. Loves special things. Moody.

Hmmm. Well obviously I AM sexy (ha!), and affectionate, but NOT shy and reserved at ALL. And doesn’t everyone love peace and serenity? Easily angered-unfortunately true. I do love to dream, I do love to travel, but I’m not so hot with the home decor. I am very musically talented (piano, flute, oboe, choir). And, I am moody, it’s true.

So it would seem that if you believe in astrology, you need to make sure to look at the month in which you were supposed to be born if you were born prematurely. I got this information from Andi’s Mommy if you want to look up your birth month!

I am SO not having my fantasy birthday today. I was awoken at 6:30 AM when my son knocked on the bedroom door just to tell us that school was cancelled. Then my husband started making phone calls to his carpool buddies and his boss, having turned on the overhead light first. Sheesh!

I then proceeded to make my own coffee and breakfast, and then got a phone call from a friend who works wondering if her son could come here for the day. What was I going to say, no? Oh, and I was supposed to go out for lunch with my Dad and StepMom only thanks to the below-freezing temperatures and icy spots, that got cancelled too. Bitch, whine, complain.

However, I did get a delivery in the mail yesterday-a Senseo coffee machine for a product review! And the DVD I bought myself with money I earned from doing other reviews came from Amazon-the “Lost” Season One Box set! Plus the birthday comments are rolling in over on Table for Five, and I’m hoping to make a Texas Sheet Cake this afternoon (yes, I’m making my own Birthday cake, but still, CAKE).

So it’s not a fantasy birthday, but I’ve made it to year 41 of life, I have a great family, a house and a car and food on the table, and CAKE. Life is pretty good

So, my birthday is January 30th, and I have $40.00 in gift certificate credit at Amazon.com. I am trying to decide what to spend it on, and I’m having a hard time making up my mind! These are the DVDs I’m considering buying:

*The Freaks and Geeks Box Set
*Knocked Up
*Lost Season One
*Northern Exposure Season One
*Bourne Identity in HD
*Bourne Ultimatum in HD
*Clerks
*Clerks II in HD

Now do you see my dilemma? I want all of them! This list should give you an idea of what I like-quirky and offbeat, or actiony with hot, hunky actors-so what would you get if you were me?

I just got back from a clothes-buying trip, and I’m not feeling disgusted, or hating my body, or anything. It’s a miracle! My husband’s company is having a holiday party on Friday, and I needed business casual clothes on a seriously tight budget. So I went to Wal-Mart.

Wal-Mart has really improved the quality of their clothing in the last few years. They have a line called “George”, from which I purchased a black open-neck cardigan, a red shell sweater for underneath, a pair of black pants (that fit! comfortably!), a bra, a pair of satiny black undies, and some black knee-highs, for under $60.00. I already have shoes, a pair of black heeled loafers with buckles that are Casual Corner but that I found at Goodwill for $2.79.

$60.00 is generally more than I spend in a YEAR on clothing for myself, since I only shop at thrift stores, but I wanted to look nice for my husband’s party, and I deserve it. It felt so good to put the pants on and have them go on smoothly, button comfortably, and look good. And sure, the size is bigger than I would like, but I won’t be at the party squeezed into too-small pants. I think it’s Stacy from What Not To Wear who says you have to dress the body you HAVE, not the body you WANT. And tonight, that’s exactly what I did.
