The Summer of Do

Last night, my husband asked me to do something, I don’t even remember what, and I replied “I’ll try to get that done”. And he said “this needs to be the summer of DO”.  He’s a wise man, my husband. See, I am the world’s best procrastinator. I can find a reason NOT to do just about anything.   And Chris knows that I need constant encouragement and a little bit of nagging to keep from making those excuses.

So, I’ve decided he’s right. This DOES need to be The Summer of “Do”. I’ve already made a list in my head of the four biggest areas of my life that I need to start saying “Do” too:

1. Figure out a way to get the bills paid and then keep them caught up
2. Figure out a system to keep the house in generally good shape most of the time
3. Figure out when the best time for me to exercise every day is and then DO IT
4. Get my email inboxes caught up and keep them that way
Now it’s just a matter of figuring out how to figure out each of those items on my Do list!   Chris said he’s going to make a list too, so that should be interesting, to see what he thinks he needs to Do rather than procrastinate about.  He also wants to ask the boys to create their own Summer of Do lists.
This should be a very interesting summer :)

How Your Baby Develops In Their Fifth and Sixth Month

The following is a guest post from Marjorie Dean on behalf of babyauthority.com.

You’ve probably noticed that your baby has gone through a number of stages in the first several months of his or her life and that they’ve been a bit fussy from time to time.

You may be starting to think that it’s going to go on forever. It might be a little bit easier for you if you know what to expect in advance. Then you will know how to cope with the different stages of your child’s development.

At Nineteen Weeks

Your baby is beginning to understand the consequences of her actions. For example, when she rolls a toy music will play. She can also understand that when a ball rolls to her from you and she rolls it back that it is more or less one continuous action.

This phase lasts around five weeks. It can be challenging to deal with because your baby really wants to explore the world but her body is not yet capable of matching her desire.

At Twenty Three to Twenty Six Weeks

At this stage in his life your son will begin to understand that there are relationships between people and between things. Although he began to smile at familiar faces several weeks ago he will now be more cognizant of winning over your friends and other members of your family.

This can be an uncomfortable period for you because separation anxiety starts coming into play. You may even get less sleep than before because your baby will start to cry when you are not with her. And you can anticipate a “nursing strike” at this time in her life.

Bear with it, because this phase will last about one month.

In honor of its 30th anniversary and National Popcorn Month, The Popcorn Factory has launched a “30 Gift Giveaway” sweepstakes. To introduce me to their product, The Popcorn Factory sent the MomReviews family a two gallon Falling Leaves tin with their 3-way mix of butter, cheese, and caramel popcorn. It is totally addictive!  I would have never guessed that a piece of cheese popcorn and a piece of caramel popcorn would taste so good together, but they totally do.  In addition to flavored popcorn, The Popcorn Factory’s products include cookies, candies, and chocolate.  There are samplers sized for a few people, towers and baskets for larger groups. Whatever your occasion, there’s sure to be a Popcorn Factory product to fit!
