CORGI HomePlan ‘Keep Me Safe’ Primary School Kids Competition

Sarah Lifestyle

In a bid to spread home safety and awareness all the way down to where it can perhaps make the biggest impact in a household, CORGI HomPlan is inviting primary school kids to enter their exciting competition to stand a chance of winning £1,000 for their school. The competition dubbed ‘Keep Me Safe’ is an extension of the home heating, plumbing, electrical, drainage and gas specialist’s proud mission of keeping homes safe across the UK, ordinarily facilitated through their core products and services.

This is a summer of encouragement on their part for school children to immerse themselves and learn all about the potential dangers which live right there at home with them in their everyday environments they’re otherwise so comfortable in.

Celebrated children’s illustrator Nick East has been brought on board to work together with CORGI HomePlan, extending the invitation to children between the ages of seven and 11 to let their creative juices flow and create a safety poster that highlights the dangers lying in wait in the home and how to go about avoiding them. Fires, cookers, electrical appliances, boilers – the dangers could present themselves in any number of ways.

To set participants on their way, a template has been created and is available for download here.

Competition Details:

  • There are two categories into which the competition is divided, including 7 to 9 years and 10 to 11 years
  • Entries are to be submitted by post together with a completed consent form
  • Each age category winner will earn £1,000 for their school, which is to be spent on educational materials
  • Winners from both categories will have full-sized posters of their designs printed, to be handed out by CORGI HomePlan’s UK-wide engineers network, all in a bid to help homes stay safe
  • One runner-up will be selected from each category to receive £250 for their school, also to be spent on educational materials
  • A £50 goody bag will be handed out to all winners and runners up for their efforts

Nick East is earmarked to be the judge for all entries, having most recently worked with astronaut Tim Peake on his book ‘Goodnight Spaceman.’

The Keep Me Safe competition will be running all through summer term and the summer holidays, with the closing date set for September. Any interested children therefore have plenty of time to get involved, something which can be worked on either at school or during their long break.

The deadline for entries is set for no later than 5pm, on Monday 4th September 2017.

School kids who come across this information and like the sound of the competition are encouraged to notify their teachers about it.

Entries can also be submitted by email at keepmesafe@democracypr.com, otherwise entries should be posted to:

Keep Me Safe c/o Democracy, Unit 2 The Boxworks, 62 Beech Road, Chorlton, Manchester, M219EG.
