A chihuahua who has never known anything other than a life of ultimate luxury gets lost in Mexico and has to give up her spoiled ways in order to find her way home. A rich girl has to give up her spoiled ways to work with someone she would have thought “beneath” her to find the chihuahua. A former police dog who lost his sense of smell, another chihuahua in love with the rich chihuahua, a rat, an iguana, and the beautiful scenery of Mexico. That’s what you get in Beverly Hills Chihuahua!
I’ll be honest, Beverly Hills Chihuahua is not the greatest movie ever. But it is a sweet story about learning to trust people even if they are different from you. It’s rated PG, I’m going to assume a lot of that rating comes from scenes showing a dogfighting ring, because otherwise I didn’t notice any bad language. The movie was directed by Raja Gosnell who directed the live-action Scooby Doo movies (I confess. I own Scooby Doo on DVD. I think it’s cute).
The movie stars Jamie Lee Curtis and Piper Perabo, and the list of voice actors is a veritable Who’s Who of famous actors: Drew Barrymore, Andy Garcia, Cheech Marin, George Lopez, Paul Rodriguez, Edward James Olmos, even opera singer Placido Domingo. Bonus features include:
Deleted Scenes: Deleted Scenes with Introductions by Director Raja Gosnell
Shorts: Legends of the Chihuahua – Animated Short
Audio Commentary: Raja Gosnell – Director
Featurette:
1. Pet Pals: The Voices Behind the Dogs
2. Hitting Their Bark: On Set With the Dogs of BEVERLY HILLS CHIHUAUA
Pick this one up for your next family movie night!
