The Tuneables – I Love Music! 2-Disc Set (Review)

250x250-tuneables

Meet The Tuneables, three friends who love to teach music to kids! In The Tuneables – I Love Music!, a 2-Disk CD/DVD set for ages 3 to 8, kids learn the “ABCs” of music learning – tonal and rhythmic patterns in music, developing their singing voice, a basic repertoire of music, and listening skills. Sponsored by The Music Intelligence Project, The Tuneables is the most comprehensive program on the market that teaches the fundamentals of music to children.

Okay, so now that you know what it is, why should you buy it? Because the characters are appealing to kids, the music is great, it’s a terrific value for what you get, and it’s fun!  The Tuneables: I Love Music! includes a 30 minute DVD, “Annie & Max and the Music Box”, an animated tale of two young kids arriving at the local music shop for their first music lesson. They see an unusual Music Box, Max reaches out to touch it, and suddenly the box springs open, the room transforms, and Annie and Max are in the magical world of Tuneville!

There, they meet Clara the clarinet, Pete the trumpet, Sunny the cymbal, Snare the drum, Gloria the piano, and Mo the violin. Along with some other special friends, this band of Tuneables help guide Annie and Max through their first music lesson!  Watching this DVD teaches children how to move to the beat in music, hear and sing tonal patterns in songs using three notes, expand the range of their singing voices, and learn the sounds and melodies of classical music.

The CD, which runs 30 minutes, sounds just like what I remember from elementary school music classes. For example the second song, “Patting the Beat”, reminds me of kids sitting cross-legged in a circle, patting their legs along with the teacher.

The 18 songs on the included CD might be designed to teach music fundamentals, but most of them are also fun to listen and sing along to! “Go, Giddy-Up, Go”  and Tuneville March will have your kids galloping and marching around the room, everyone can sing along to “ABC Medley”, and classical music fans will enjoy hearing “Eine Kleine Nacht Musik” and “Surprise Symphony”.

Visit The Tuneables Music Shop to purchase the 2-Disc set for $29.99, the I Love Music! CD by itself for $14.99, a teacher’s edition, a t-shirt, and more.  It’s sure to be a hit as a gift as well!

Set the Mood With a Sensual CD from EdenFantasys

Sex toys - EdenFantasys adult toys store When my husband and I were younger, music used to be an important part of our sex life. We would light candles, put on a Vangelis CD, give each other a back massage, it was a way for us to relax and enjoy being together. As we’ve gotten older, we’ve stopped doing that, and I miss it. Since I’m a blogger for EdenFantasys, I took a look at their site and sure enough, they have a page for Erotic Music.

Euphoria: Sensual Soundscapes is described as an “environmental audio sculpture ideally suited for massage and passionate moments of physical connection. Inspired by the elements of air, earth, fire and water, and the harmonics that center the spirit, settle the mind, and soothe and comfort the body.” Doesn’t that sound nice? The 8 tracks run for a total of 63 minutes and the CD is $12.99.

I also like the description of Erotic Moods (The Very Best Of) – “Erotic Moods is a sensual musical journey inspired by romance. A style that combines the essence of Enya, Enigma, Deep Forest, and Moodswings to create a sound that is the perfect accent to any romantic or erotic encounter.”  It has 15 instrumental tracks that run for 65 minutes, and is $17.99.

My one suggestion for EdenFantasys is to add sample tracks to their site. I am very hesitant to buy a CD without having heard any of the music on it at all.  I guess being able to listen on Amazon.com has spoiled me :)   Check out EdenFantasys for a huge selection of adult CDs, DVDs, books, and of course, toys.

Winter Songs: A Windham Hill Christmas

Windham Hill Winter CD

Windham Hill has been releasing Christmas albums since the mid-90s, and this year’s edition is called Winter Songs: A Windham Hill Christmas. With ten tracks of music performed by Windham Hill artists, it’s shorter than previous releases, but definitely worth buying for fans of Windham Hill. Artists featured on Winter Songs include Liz Story, Alex De Grassi, Philip Aaberg, and Jim Brickman.

Familiar tunes on the CD include Joy To the World, Angels We Have Heard on High, Patapan, Greensleeves, Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas, and the Nutcracker Suite. The remaining tracks are pieces called Circle of Joy, December Morning, The Dove’s Return, and Salve Regina. What I like about this CD is it’s all instrumental, which makes it perfect background music while working, relaxing, or visiting with family. Click here to listen to streaming tracks.
