Terrific Picture Books for Kids

EarlyLight Books introduces four eye-popping children’s picture books, with titles that are sure to get your child’s attention! Just try telling a kid over the age of 3 that you want to read a book called “Bug Butts” to them and see if you don’t both start giggling :)

EarlyLight Books

EarlyLight Books sent us all four titles at no charge in return for a review, and Kaitlyn was a willing tester!  We read a lot of children’s books and these are amazing. The colors in the illustrations and photos just pop off the page. We had no idea that bugs used their butts in so many different ways, from defending themselves to communicating with other bugs.    We were fascinated by the different ways animals use their tongues and take baths, and the Green colors of Animal Colors are stunning.  Any of these books would make a wonderful addition to a child’s picture book library.

Visit EarlyLightBooks to download the Fall ’09 PDF catalog, and for ordering information. Each book is $14.95.  Thank you EarlyLightBooks for sending us the four books at no charge for this review!

Stay safe in the sun with BabySafeTravel

It might be September, but if you are still going to beaches or parks, you still need to protect yourself and your kids from the sun’s rays. We were at Lake Michigan last weekend, I didn’t expect the kids to want to swim in such cold water, but in they went anyway, and sure enough, my kids’ shoulders, backs, and faces got a little sunburned. If I had known they were going to want to swim, I would have packed sunscreen and Kaitlyn’s baby banz sunglasses, which still fit her from last summer.

Even just playing outside, kids should be protected from UV rays, especially if they burn easily. BabySafeTravel.com carries really cute sun hats, the baby banz sunglasses, and one-piece swimwear with a UPF rating of 50+. Baby Banz sunglasses have a comfortable strap that fits snugly around your child’s head, and the hats have a chin strap. My daughter likes to wear her sun hat around the house because she thinks it’s so pretty!

If you’re planning to travel this Fall with your kids, check out BabySafeTravel.com for travel tips, and to find the perfect set of Baby Banz sunglasses for your little one. Take it from me, pack sunscreen too, in case an opportunity to swim in a Lake just happens to come along :)

BOB Stroller Diaper Bag

There are tons of diaper bags to choose from when the time comes. You can get cutesy ones with cartoon animals on them, you can get super sleek ones that look more like a purse a celebrity would carry. But what most parents really need is a durable diaper bag that holds a lot of baby gear and is easy to carry.

BOB to the rescue! BOB stroller diaper bags clip on to either BOB Single or Dual strollers, plus they have a long strap for either over the shoulder or messenger bag-style carrying.  Diaper bag colors coordinate with stroller colors too.  BOB sent me on in Pacific Blue (a bag, not a stroller. Kaitlyn won’t ride in one any more. But alas, still needs an emergency change of clothes and wipes when we go out).  I think it’s really nice looking:BOB diaper bag1

It might look compact, but this bag holds a lot of stuff.  Under the flap is a pocket for extra diapers, wipes, water or bottles or whatever you want:

The bag comes with a ginormous waterproof changing pad that the site calls “stinkproof”- fortunately we haven’t had to test that claim.  This is a complete list of the features:

* 31″ x 12″ changing pad
* Shoulder strap
* Removable waterproof pouch with insulated bottle pocket
* Separate zippered pockets for parents and baby
* Key clip
* Fleece-lined glasses pocket
* Cell phone pocket
* Easily accessible diaper pocket

Having owned many diaper bags of varying sizes over the last 12 years, it’s my opinion that $65.00 is a fair price to pay for a bag as sturdy as this one with so many features.  It would make an excellent baby shower gift.

Visit BOBgear.com for more information on the Stroller Diaper bag.
