Win Your Choice of Items from Lands’ End!

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations to the winner, Karen from Thrifty Mommy!

I am so thrilled to be working with Fleishman Hillard and Lands’ End on this amazing giveaway where one lucky winner gets to choose their prize! My family recently reviewed three terrific products from the Lands’ End Winter Catalog- The Women’s Cashmere Tee Long Sleeve Sweater, the Men’s Down Vest, and the Kids’ Sleeping Bag Set, and as with every Lands’ End thing we own, we love all three! Before I announce the giveaway, let me tell you a little more about each of the items.

Lands' End Women's Cashmere Tee SweaterThe Women’s Cashmere Tee Sweater has the lightweight feel of a tee but the cozy warmth of a sweater. It’s so light, you can layer it under another sweater without feeling all bulked up. The photo I took in my bathroom doesn’t really do the color justice; this is the “China Blue”. The Natural Fit is designed to flatter your curves without clinging too tightly. And, the incredible softness comes from the Kashmir goats of Mongolia, whose coarse winter coats guard the cashmere, which is combed away ounces at a time and spun into yarns. If you win this giveaway and choose this prize, the hardest thing will be choosing which of the yummy colors you want!

The Men’s Down Vest features a wind resistant, 100% nylon outer shell, and a filling of 70% goose down and 30% feathers. It will keep you warm in 15 degree weather! I ordered an XL so that Chris could wear it over a t-shirt and sweatshirt when he runs out to shovel the sidewalk, and I recently learned that Ryan has been wearing it OVER his Lands’ End Extreme Squall Jacket (also an excellent product) for an extra layer of warmth as he walks to the bus stop. If you win this giveaway, you can choose this Vest for your prize and surprise your husband or other special guy!

lands end kids sleeping bag setMy boys have a friend (or two) sleep over at least two weekends a month, and sometimes it’s on the spur of the moment, so I was grateful to get this Lands’ End Sleeping Bag so I have an extra for an extra kid to use. I ordered it in the Light Blue Stripe pattern shown in the image, but if you win this giveaway and choose this for your prize, you can also pick from a soft green with little horses or pink with a tiny floral. This sleeping bag is made with incredibly soft cotton and a plush filling for warmth. My daughter likes to lay it out on the living room floor and fill it with stuffed animals, then crawl in it to play! We also have had to wash it already thanks to an unfortunate Pull-up leaking accident; although the stain didn’t come out completely (I treated the stain with Shout but it didn’t get it all out and then Chris took it to the laundromat and washed and dried it. Definitely not Lands’ End’s fault). My point is, the washing did not diminish the softness or make the fabric pill up or anything, so it’s good to know that it can be washed and dried and will still look great! (provided that refusing-to-potty-train toddlers don’t sit on it with dirty Pull-ups). The Sleeping Bag comes with a coordinating pillowcase (but not a pillow), and a soft bag to store it in.

“Search for Veggie Champions” Contest

love your veggiesIn partnership with Chef Art Smith, the makers of Hidden Valley® Salad Dressings want to identify, help and reward moms who are true vegetable advocates through the Love Your Veggies“Search for Veggie Champions Contest.” For 10 lucky moms, Chef Smith and other experts will lead a two-day retreat aimed at learning and sharing tips and tools on planting, harvesting, cooking and eating vegetables with children. These moms will also receive $5,000 to start or maintain a community vegetable garden in their hometown.

To enter, visit www.loveyourveggies.com. You’ll need to complete an entry form, answer essay questions, and upload an original, non-professional photo of a garden that inspires you. These are the essay questions:

1) Tell us a bit about how the non-profit you choose would use the $5,000 grant? Would they plant a new garden? Maintain or revive an existing garden? Any initial ideas on where the garden is or will be located? What does/will it look like? How do you hope it will help your community? and 2) What do you hope to learn by attending the Love Your Veggies™ mom retreat, and why should you be chosen? How will you use the information you learn to help your family, your friends and/or the community at large? How will you spread the word about what you have learned? Each essay must be in English and must be 500 words or less.

The Grand Prize in this contest is A four (4) day/three (3) night trip for the winner to Chicago, IL to attend the Love Your Veggies™ mom retreat. Trip includes round-trip coach air transportation from the major airport nearest to the winner’s home to Chicago, IL, round-trip transfers from the airport to the hotel and return, hotel accommodations, based on single occupancy, an American Express $50 gift card for the winner’s meals on the first day of the trip, and a $5,000 check awarded to a recognized local non-profit organization! The non-profit has to agree to use the $5,000 to start a community vegetable garden.

So there you go! If you know a non-profit organization that could really use money to start a vegetable garden and get the kids of that community eating more veggies, enter the “Search for Veggie Champions” Contest! This post is part of a blog tour for Mom Central.
