Color Blanks by RoseArt

Rose Art by MEGA Brands introduces Color Blanks, white “blank slate” figurines that inspire imaginations to run wild! Each Color Blank comes with three permanent mini markers and a sticker sheet. There are endless possibilities for personalizing your Color Blank!

MEGA Brands sent us a Color Blank to review, and I decided I would let Kaitlyn decorate it completely on her own with no input from me. I’m a bit of a perfectionist ;) She had fun coloring with the mini markers – keep in mind, they are permanent and won’t wash off clothes or furniture. I’m lucky, Kaitlyn is always super careful with markers.

Of course, this was AFTER her bath because that’s just the kind of Mom I am, clean the kid first, THEN let her use messy markers :P

This YouTube video  shows all the different Color Blanks figures and how they can look decorated .

Color Blanks come in singles, two-packs, and a family pack of four, each with mini markers and stickers. To see the complete list of Color Blanks figures and what stores sell them, visit www.colorblanks.com/toys/

Color Blanks are fun to keep around for those “Mom, I’m bored moments”. Kaitlyn is already asking for another one so her Color Blank can have a “friend”! Whether your child likes animals, people, or monsters, they are sure to find a Color Blank they’ll have fun making their own. Single figures are $4.49-$5.49, two-packs are $9.99-$10.99, and the Family Pack is $14.99. Buy them at Target, Walgreens, K-Mart, Jo-Ann Fabrics, Hobby Lobby or Office Max, or online from Amazon.com or the MEGA Bloks Shop.

Eye Can Art

There are very few art kits that actually provide all the supplies you need and are also easy enough for your kids to do with little help from us parents. With Eye Can Art kits, you get kid-tested art kits in an easy to carry can that provide hours of fun! Product description:

Developed by professional art educators, Eye Can Art replaces the predictable craft kit with a journey of creative exploration based on the fundamentals of visual learning. Our Parents’ Choice Award Winning Kits provide high quality, washable, non-toxic art materials; enough to do the projects multiple times. The easy-to-follow instruction booklets provide clear steps to follow, suggest ideas to further explore, and show the work of professional artists who use the same techniques in their own work.

I had never heard of Sumi-e until Eye Can Art sent me some kits to review. Sumi-e is the art of Japanese-style watercolor done with a brush and black liquid ink. The inks in the kits are non-toxic and washable, although I recommend putting an art smock or apron or some kind of covering on your child.  This kit comes with white paper for creating the design and black mounting paper for hanging up your child’s creation.

The Book-In-A Box kit is so cool, it comes with enough materials to make three fold-out books plus one house-shaped book. Four handmade books for $24.00 makes this super-affordable!  I haven’t used this one yet because Kaitlyn’s coloring skills are still developing. When she tells me she wants to draw a story, I’ll get this kit out. It comes with long white paper, house shaped paper, glue stick, colored pencils, a fine tip black marker, three plastic “windows”, and an idea sheet.  You glue each book into it’s own box, so the book is protected, plus, INSTANT GIFT! Awesome.
