Gold Medal White Whole Wheat Flour Prize Pack Giveaway

White whole wheat might sound like a contradiction in terms, but here’s how it gets it’s name.  Traditional whole wheat flour is made from a variety of wheat called “hard red spring wheat”,  while white whole wheat flour is made from a variety called “hard white spring wheat”.  Gold Medal White Whole Wheat Flour is a whole grain, but with a similar taste and texture to all-purpose white flour.

Since it first came on the market a few years ago, I’ve been exclusively buying white whole wheat breads for my family. It tastes and looks exactly like white bread, but with whole grains and fiber in each slice. I feel so much better letting my kids eat “white bread” for sandwiches and toast!

One thing I hadn’t been doing though is baking my own white whole wheat products. Thanks to the Gold Medal White Whole Wheat Flour that I got through MyBlogSpark, I’ll be able to make cookies, muffins, dessert bars, even cinnamon rolls! Gold Medal® White Whole Wheat flour can be used in any recipe. It’s the best of both worlds—100% whole grain but with a lighter taste and color.

Betty Crocker has a website just for recipes that use Gold Medal White Whole Wheat Flour. I can’t wait to try Super Chunky Trail Mix Cookies, Peanut Butter Chip Cookies, Chocolate Chip Banana Muffins, and Double Chocolate Lava Cake! YUM. People post great photos of their baked goods on Betty Crocker’s Facebook page.

If you want to convert a white flour recipe and aren’t sure how it will turn out, start substituting 25% or 50% of the all-purpose flour with Gold Medal® White Whole Wheat flour, gradually increasing proportion as desired. Note: You may wish to add an extra tablespoon or two of the liquid used in the recipe when substituting Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour or decrease the amount of flour by one to two tablespoon for recipes that call for all-purpose flour.

WIN IT:  Thanks to Betty Crocker and MyBlogSpark, one lucky MomReviews reader will win a fantastic Betty Crocker® Gold Medal White Whole Wheat Flour prize pack that includes A VIP coupon for a sample of Gold Medal White Whole Wheat flour, instructions for recipe conversion, recipe cards, and a fantastic Gold Medal Flour branded Cookie Jar!

Belated Mother’s Day Gift Idea – Save 15% On Shari’s Berries

Need a belated Mother’s Day gift for a Mom who loves chocolate? Head on over to Shari’s Berries and try not to drool on your keyboard! If you’ve been stuck on Gift Ideas, Chocolate Covered Strawberries from Shari’s Berries will be a delicious and much appreciated gift for any Mom.

I had the opportunity to pick a product to review from Shari’s Berries, and I picked 4 Dipped Cookies & a Full Half Dozen Swizzled Berries.  The berries arrived in a foam cooler, packaged in a box with a slot for each berry. Although some of the chocolate had flaked off, I could see that there were six different kinds of chocolate coating on each GIGANTIC berry!  The 4 cookies were each in an individual plastic wrapper.

One berry was covered in chopped nuts, one in coconut, one in mini chocolate chips, and the other three in chocolate drizzle. I was nervous taking the first bite because I didn’t want to taste a sour or unripe berry, but all 6 berries were juicy and sweet and perfect. I do suggest that you eat these with a napkin because the juice WILL drip! SO, so good.

Although I only got to eat one of the cookies, I’m pretty sure there were three chocolate chip and one oatmeal raisin, each dipped halfway with chocolate and then drizzled. The cookie part was soft and chewy and the chocolate coating was a nice contrast. All in all, I was very pleased with the taste and freshness of my order, although I was disappointed that it arrived with the chocolate flaking off on some of the berries. Shari’s might want to pack the cooler more tightly or have the box say FRAGILE so it gets less manhandling while being shipped.

DISCOUNTS:  Shari’s Berries is offering MomReviews readers a 15% discount on their order!  Whether you are looking to buy a belated Mother’s Day gift, a birthday present, or a “just because” gift, Shari’s Berries has something to fit every budget. Cookies, brownies, cheesecakes, chocolate cakes, cake and brownie pops – there’s something for everyone!

AND, “Like” Shari’s Berries on Facebook and save 20% off on today’s order!

Thanks so much to Shari’s Berries for sending me their delicious berries and cookies for this review. They made me a fan!

Hershey’s Makes Valentine’s Day Extra Sweet

For me, Valentine’s Day is all about chocolate, and especially Hershey’s chocolate.  In fact,  according to a poll done for Hershey’s last year, more people want Hershey’s for Valentine’s Day than flowers or jewelry. Hershey’s has lots of options for sweet gifts, in festive wrappers and packaging. For school Valentine exchanges, Hershey’s offers Snack-Size Treats in NEW Cookies ‘N’ Crème, Hershey’s Kisses, and Kit Kat Wafer Bars.

For gift-giving, Hershey’s has really outdone themselves with their Valentine’s Day Collection. Some of the many Hershey’s chocolates available in special holiday packaging include:

* Hershey’s Kisses Brand Milk Chocolates wrapped in pink, red and silver foils
* Hershey’s Kisses Brand Milk Chocolates with Almonds wrapped in red and gold foils
* Hershey’s Kisses Brand Milk Chocolates Filled with Caramel in pink foils
* Hershey’s Kisses Brand Special Dark Mildly Sweet Chocolates in red and purple foils
* Hershey’s Kisses Brand Milk Chocolates Filled with Cherry Cordial Crème in pink foils

Those looking for heart-shaped, ready-to-gift options need to look no further. Hershey’s offers an array of beautifully decorated Valentine’s Day-themed boxes featuring both classic and premium favorites, including:

* NEW – York Dark Chocolate Covered Peppermint Pattie Hearts
* NEW – Reese’s Peanut Butter Cup Miniatures Heart Box
* NEW – Hershey’s Kisses Brand Milk Chocolates Heart Box
* NEW – Hershey’s Pot of Gold Truffles Collection Red Checkered Heart Box
* NEW – Hershey’s Pot of Gold Premium Collection Red Swirl Heart Box

Hershey’s sent me some treats to review, and although I tried to keep them hidden, the kids figured out where they were pretty quick. It doesn’t take long for chocolate to disappear in this house!  We enjoyed a bag of Hershey’s Kisses in pink, red, and silver foils, a bag of Reese’s Peanut Butter Hearts, and a package of snack-size Kit Kats.  Now I’m just hoping that my husband surprises me with a Pot of Gold Heart-Shaped Box for Valentine’s Day!
