An easy way to shop for gift cards- SHOP.com

As much as I would love to always pick the perfect gift for everyone on my list, there are some people for whom it’s hard to shop. My 16 year old nephew, for example, or my kids’ teachers. Rather than buy a gift that the person will then have to return, dealing with crowded parking lots and long waits at return counters and picked-over merchandise, I’m a big fan of giving gift cards.

SHOP.com asked me to take a look at their gift cards page, which I didn’t even know they had! Sure enough, they have links that go right to the online gift card purchase sites for Target, Walmart, JCPenney, Kmart, and Subway, as well as Visa and American Express gift cards. American Express gift cards can even be personalized with the recipient’s name, or a customized message (like “Happy Holidays from XYZ Company”, or even a photo. Pretty cool!

I think it’s helpful that SHOP.com has a gift cards page. After looking at all of the choices the site has, if you still can’t find the perfect gift for someone, you can just click a gift card link and make your purchase. It’s convenient, and easy, and lets you cross one more name off of your holiday gift list!
