Holiday Gift Guide – Santa Buddies on DVD

Bringing a holiday twist to the fun movies Air Bud and Space Buddies, Kaitlyn and I recently reviewed the new movie Santa Buddies on Blu-Ray from Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment. In this new movie starring adorable golden retriever puppies, Budderball, B-Dawg, Buddha, Mudbud and Rosebud team up to save Christmas! It’s a great movie for kids, very festive, although the plot is kind of confusing. Santa has a dog helper, and the dog helper’s son is named Puppy Paws. Puppy Paws gets in a lot of trouble at the North Pole, so when he sees Budderball on the naughty list, he decides he’d have more fun hanging out with the Buddies.

Meanwhile, there’s a magical Christmas Icicle at the North Pole that’s starting to melt because people aren’t in the Christmas spirit (I think). It’s up to Puppy Paws and the Buddies to save Christmas, and there’s also another story line about the town’s grumpy dog catcher (played wonderfully by Christopher Lloyd) and a sick young boy who wants a puppy for Christmas, but his Dad can’t afford the fee the dog catcher charges to adopt out the puppies. With George Wendt as Santa Claus, Christopher Lloyd as dog catcher Stan Crudge, and Danny Woodburn as Head Elf Eli, Santa Buddies is a heartwarming family movie that is sure to bring a smile to everyone’s face.

Holiday Gift Guide- Crayon Town

I first got a look at Crayon Town when Wild Planet was a vendor at BlogHer, and their table was across the aisle from the book table where I volunteered. I couldn’t stop wandering over to marvel at the genius of Crayon Town!  It’s a black-and-white playmat kids can color,  then they use the crayons to join together the heads and bodies of animals, or the tops and bottoms of trees-it’s so cool!  Crayon Town was named one of the FunFare Hot Dozen for 2009, and FunFare sent me Crayon Town to review.  These are the two playsets we received:

Crayon Town Zoo comes with a zookeeper, a monkey, a giraffe, an alligator, a lion, a polar bear, an all-terrain vehicle with an attachable wagon, a gateway, and three Fold & Build™ structures- a Polar Cave, a Lion Cave, a Monkey Tree, two 22″ x 17″ coloring mats, and 8 crayons. There’s also a Large Playset that’s a construction site. Price: $24.95
