Back to School tips from Peter Walsh

I was invited to view a webcast from pro organizer Peter Walsh in which he tackled how to get kids organized for school. He talked to teachers, parents and kids about what works, what doesn’t, and how to handle specific challenges related to organization. The Webcast was sponsored by OfficeMax, who also sent me a sample of the new products in their back to school collection called Schoolio-Von-Hoolio. This is a basic summary of Peter’s tips for back to school:

TIPS FOR ORGANIZING YOUR HOME
1) Find the Vision you have for a Space
2) Make Organization a Family Value
3) Use the Right Tools for Great Organization

TIPS FOR ORGANIZING YOUR CHILD
1) Show that you Value Organization
2) Establish Clear Limits and Routines
3) Always ‘Finish the Cycle’ (Complete a Task)

TIPS FOR THE CLASSROOM
1) Establish Clear Routines
2) Involve Kids with Classroom Organization
3) Use Words, Pictures and Color to help Organize

This is a sample of some of the products in the new Schoolio-Von-Hoolio product line at OfficeMax, this one is called ‘Darling’.

Schoolio-Von-Hoolio_DarlingCollectionI especially like the owl in this design, here he is on the coordinating drawstring bag:

If you are looking for fun new folders, notebooks, journals, binders, backpacks, drawstring bags, and other back to school supplies, check out the Schoolio-Von-Hoolio line at OfficeMax. I just went there today and you can get packs of Schoolio-Von-Hoolio crayons for ONE PENNY, limit 3 while supplies last. The designs are super-cute for both boys and girls. Now if I could just get Peter Walsh to actually come to my house and ORGANIZE ME, that would be great :)

Win a Stonyfield Farm Yogurt Prize Pack!

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations to the winner, Grammy Janet!

I used to buy another leading brand of yogurt (rhymes with cannon) until I was contacted about reviewing Stonyfield Farm Organic Yogurt. I used the coupon I was sent to purchase a quart of fat-free vanilla, used some of it in a recipe, and left the rest in the fridge. A few days later, my 12 year old informed me that I should only buy Stonyfield Farm from now on because it was “so much better” than that other brand. Well alrighty then!

I used the yogurt I bought to make brownies. If you’ve never tried No Pudge brownie mix, you really need to get some the next time you are craving brownies. All you do is mix it with fat-free vanilla yogurt and bake, and you get fudgy, delicious, guilt free brownies!  The Stonyfield Farm website has a link to more recipes, including one from my friend Anne-Marie from This Mama Cooks!
