Save money when shopping online

I was at Home Depot yesterday, and I had to restrain myself from having a wild shopping spree in their holiday department! They had shelves full of adorable plush snowmen, which I collect. We need a new artificial tree this year too. Forget Halloween and Thanksgiving, I’m ready for it to be Christmas NOW! So that brings me to the point of this post, which is to let you know about online shopping with Shop.com. This shopping comparison site has links to great deals on everything you need to make your home look wonderful for the holidays or any other time of the year. You can find deals on items for your kitchen, tabletop, bedroom, bathroom, and so much more.

I’d like to buy Kaitlyn a personalized Christmas stocking this year. From the Christmas Deals page I went to Indoor Decor and right there is a huge image of a Christmas stocking with links. I clicked Personalized Stockings, which brings up 151 matches. I browsed the first few pages and settled on this lovely Applique Velvet Stocking with a snowman on it (of course!).

Many of us shop online and pay full price without realizing that there was a discount or coupon code available. Well, Shop.com has a page for that too! Right now there are 245 offers available on everything from perfume to footwear. If you are going to shop online, check the coupons and rebates page first to see if what you are buying has a discount code. I noticed that many of the listings also showed free shipping available; there’s a page on Shop.com just for free shipping offers too. I noticed both Drugstore.com and Zappos were on the list :) You definitely want to check first for coupons or free shipping offers when you are buying something online, so check Shop.com first!

Even spammers make a good point sometimes

I got a comment on my post about how cold my house is from someone whose parents apparently named him “Texas Defensive Driving”. Man, that must have gotten him teased a LOT in school, huh?

He asked why I didn’t just close the door to the playroom with the badly sealed window to keep the cold air from spreading through the house. Great question, Tex. I should have mentioned in that post that we live in a ranch-style house, which means that the only rooms that have doors are the bedrooms and bathrooms. Otherwise, the living room and dining room lead into the kitchen through a, well, cut-out space in the wall, but with no door. Then from the living room there’s another cut-out that goes down a hallway that leads directly into the playroom. No doors.

And yes, Tex, we should take care of getting the window sealed. It’s an extra-large, double picture window, and the window company that gave us an estimate when we first moved in said that particular brand of window is no longer manufactured, so we would have to have an entire window and frame custom-made to fit the space. It will cost at least $650.00, possibly more now that two years have gone by. For now, we’ll just have to be cold. But thanks for your concern!
