Tag Reader Giveaway For You And Your Favorite Kindergarten Teacher!

This giveaway is closed. Congratulations to the winner, Val from Mom Knows It All! She’s donating the teacher kit to the kindergarten at her son’s school.

Thanks to LeapFrog, I’ve been reviewing, giving away, and donating Tag Readers and books for over two years, and I continue to be an enthusiastic supporter of the brand, it’s products, and everything it does for kids, parents, and teachers. I tell everyone I know how much Kaitlyn loves her Tag Reader!  Last summer I had the honor of being a LeapFrog Summer Reading Program Ambassador, and I got to donate Tag Readers, Tag Junior Readers, and books for both to our Township Library plus a local daycare center. They were thrilled to get the latest technology that makes reading fun and brings books to life!

Tag Readers are great for kids to have at home, and they are also terrific for classrooms.  Kaitlyn’s preschool room has a reading center with books on CD that a small group listens to through a CD boombox. Her teacher got really excited when I told her about Tag Readers.  The kids can still read the same book, but they can go at their own pace, and they can use headphones that plug into the Tag Readers so they can concentrate on the story and not be distracted by others around them.

Next year when Kaitlyn goes to Kindergarten, she’ll see a familiar sight at the Reading Center – Tag Readers! Thanks to LeapFrog, who is always so generous, I get to give the Kindergarten classroom of my choice 3 Tag School Readers and headphones, plus 3 copies each of 15 different Tag books! I’ve already talked to the teacher, Mrs. Arning,  and she is so excited about the donation. I’ll follow up with her in a couple of months to see how the kids are liking the Tags and share her thoughts with you.

Want to help LeapFrog give the gift of reading? It’s so easy! They have partnered with DonorsChoose to give $100,000 in Tag Readers and books to Kindergarten classrooms, and they are already 30% of the way there! Visit DonorsChoose.org to make a donation to a teacher who would like Tag School Readers for the classroom. LeapFrog will match donations, dollar for dollar, up to $100,000.

Giveaway – The NEW LeapFrog Leapster Explorer!

I am so excited about this giveaway because thanks to LeapFrog, I get to give one very lucky MomReviews reader something very, very cool – the brand new LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game SystemLeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game System!!

LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game System

LeapFrog sent us the Leapster Explorer last week and swore us to secrecy! We couldn’t tell anyone what it was called or show any photos of it! I couldn’t even let Kaitlyn take it into a restaurant because I couldn’t let other people see it! It was like I was a LeapFrog Secret Agent :)

The LeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game SystemLeapFrog Leapster Explorer Learning Game System ($69.99) is available for preorder beginning today (June 7th) and will be on store shelves beginning July 15, 2010. There will be 12 games available and 18 Leaplet Learning Apps including e-Books and videos. By the end of the year there will be over 40 games and apps available. You can pre-order the Leapster Explorer from these retailers – amazon.com, Target, Toys “R” Us, Walmart, Best Buy, Sears, Kmart, and Meijer – OR you can enter my GIVEAWAY and have a Leapster Explorer delivered right to your house on July 15th! You’ll be one of the first people to own one!

If your kids have played with the classic Leapster or the Leapster2, there are both similarities and big differences between those and the Explorer. Like the Leapsters, the Explorer is sized right for little hands with big buttons and an attached stylus. With the Explorer, LeapFrog has taken handheld gaming to a whole new level by making FOUR kinds of content available for it – cartridge games, downloadable videos, downloadable flash cards, and downloadable e-books. The downloadables are called “Leaplets”, and will be available by purchasing a Leaplet Card at retailers. There will also be a CAMERA accessory that plugs into the bottom of the Explorer available this Fall!

The Explorer that LeapFrog sent us last week came pre-loaded with a selection of games, videos, flash cards, and e-books. Aimed at ages 4-9, my 4.5 year old daughter was able to turn it on and start playing immediately with no help from me! There’s a game called Jewel Train with 25 levels, the screen shows pieces of train track that are turned in different directions and have to be turned with a tap of the stylus until all the track pieces connect. She started playing it and next thing I knew, she was on level 13! I couldn’t believe how intuitive it was.  The games, books, and videos currently available include kids’ favorite characters like SpongeBob, Dora, Diego, Ni Hao Kai Lan, Ben 10, Disney Princesses, and many more!

WIN IT: I could go on and on for hundreds of more words about how awesome the Leapster Explorer is, but instead, how about I start the GIVEAWAY so you can enter to win one! One winner will be chosen at random from all eligible entries to have a Leapster Explorer including the Toy Story 3 game cartridge delivered to them on July 15 2010. Open to U.S. mailing addresses only, please.

MAIN ENTRY: Leave a comment on this post telling me who you’ll give the LeapFrog Leapster Explorer to if you win this giveaway. This entry is required for any bonus entries to be counted. Leave your main entry comment by June 21st at 11:59 PM EST.

LeapFrog: Math Adventure to the Moon

Join Tad and Lily as they blast off on an exciting educational adventure in LeapFrog Math Adventure to the Moon
Tad and Lily need the perfect collection of things to take to school for their math assignment. When they finally decide on moon rocks, there’s just one problem—how will they get them? With some magical help from their firefly friend Edison, they board a rocket ship to start their quest. Soon the twins learn that math is everywhere, even in outer space! Watch as they use their skills in counting, sorting, skip counting and recognizing patterns to overcome obstacles, find new friends and make the trip back to Earth!

My four year old loves LeapFrog, so she was a very willing reviewer for this DVD, which will be released this Tuesday, Feb. 23rd.  After we watched it together the first time, she immediately asked to watch it again. I just asked her what she liked best about LeapFrog Math Adventure to the Moon, and she said: “I liked helping count down before they took off really fast!”

Since Kaitlyn has already mastered the alphabet, I’ve been paying a lot more attention to opportunities to teach her math in a fun way.  One thing I really like about this DVD is that it touches on skip counting, which both my boys learned starting in second grade as a way to start learning multiplication. I appreciated that this DVD included skip counting along with counting, sorting, and matching shape patterns.

The suggested price for LeapFrog Math Adventure to the Moon is $14.98; or use either of the links in this post to order it from Amazon.com for $9.99. It’s eligible for free shipping too. The links in this post are from my Amazon Associates account, so if you do make the purchase, I earn a small commission (disclosure, blahblahblah). It really is a cute DVD!
