Holiday Gift Guide-My Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas

VeryMintyXmasMy Little Pony: A Very Minty Christmas It’s Christmas Eve in Ponyville and the ponies are decorating the town Christmas tree. The most important ornament on the tree is the “Here Come Christmas Candy Cane”, a glowing beacon which leads Santa Claus to Ponyville. Minty thinks the Candy Cane is slightly crooked so she tries to adjust it but it falls to the ground and shatters. She tries to tell Pinkie Pie what happened, but she can’t bring herself to admit what she did. And worst of all, now Santa won’t be able to find his way to Ponyville! Minty takes one of the Ponyville hot-air balloons and heads for the North Pole, where she hopes to guide Santa to Ponyville herself.

For fans of My Little Pony, this is a super-cute addition to their collection. It’s great for watching any time of the year! Released last year, I saw this DVD at Best Buy last weekend. Look for copies that come with a bonus mini My Little Pony for an extra-special gift! Run time: 66 minutes Amazon Price: $13.99

UP on Blu-Ray and DVD

UpBlurayBoxart smPixar’s UP is quite simply a delight. It’s charming, funny, sweet, suspenseful, touching-and because it’s Pixar, it’s got lovable characters. The movie begins with Carl (voice of Ed Asner) as a young boy, worshipping a famous explorer along with his kooky friend Ellie (Ellie Docter, daughter of writer/director Pete Docter). Carl and Ellie dream of one day traveling to Paradise Falls, Venezuela, as they build their dream home and work at the local zoo, Carl as a balloon vendor. In a short but bittersweet silent montage, we see Carl and Ellie’s deep love for each other, especially when they are unable to have children. In the end, Carl outlives Ellie and ends up alone and grumpy.

One day, while defending the mailbox that he and Ellie marked with their handprints, Carl accidentally hurts a construction worker and is told by the court that he needs to go to a nursing home. Instead, Carl releases hundreds of balloons through his chimney, lifting the house up and away. Much to his surprise, he hears a knock on the door and finds Wilderness Explorer Scout Russell, who is trying to earn his Assisting the Elderly badge. After a series of close calls, Carl and Russell land near Paradise Falls, where they discover a talking dog, a colorful bird, and someone potentially dangerous.

I don’t want to give away any more spoilers, except to say that you’ll be surprised how suspenseful it gets, even while you’re hearing hilarious one-liners and looking at eye-popping visuals. And, it has a very happy ending that I promise will put a smile on your face!

I reviewed the UP 4 Disc Combo Pack with Blu-Ray, Digital Copy and DVD, and it is INCREDIBLE. I can hardly believe you can get all that for only $19.99 on Amazon! Both Blu-Ray discs are PACKED with bonus features, and this is a movie your kids (and you too!) will watch again and again.

disclosure: I received UP from Disney for this review, all opinions are my own. No other compensation was received. The links in this post are Amazon Associate links, I earn a commission from any sales made.

Watch the first 6 Minutes of Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure!

Tinkerbell DVDTinker Bell and the Lost Treasure comes out on October 27th on DVD and on Blu-Ray, and my daughter can’t wait to see it! Even my boys had to admit that last year’s Tinker Bell movie was “kind of cute”. In this adventure, Tinker Bell is asked to create a scepter that will focus the light of an unusual blue harvest moon through the special moonstone that creates pixie dust. Her friend Terence tries to help but Tink grows impatient with him and sends him on an errand, but what he brings back causes the scepter and moonstone to break. Tink then has to set off on a quest to fix the action. With the voices of Mae Whitman, Raven Symone, Anjelica Huston, Jesse McCartney and Kristin Chenoweth, this new Tinker Bell adventure is sure to be a hit with kids and parents too.

Thanks to Disney Entertainment, I’ve got a special treat for you! Here are the first 6 minutes of Tinker Bell and the Lost Treasure!

You can see more sneak peeks of Disney movies by going to their YouTube page. Watch for my review of the new Tinker Bell movie later this month!
