Schwan’s Home Delivery introduces new Asian meals created by Chef Jet Tila, who is well known for his international cuisine. His new meals combine familiar ingredients like chicken and salmon with asian flavors like ginger, rice noodles, soy, garlic, and chili sauce. The five meals in the new line are Chicken Lo Mein, Salmon Teriyaki, Cantonese Steamed Cod with Ginger and Soy, Thai Chicken Coconut Soup, and Drunken Noodles.
We received one of each of the meals for review, and I’m happy to report that of the five of us, there was a dish that each of us absolutely loved! My daughter and youngest son enjoyed the Chicken Lo Mein, which features noodles with chicken, fire roasted onions, green and red peppers and bean sprouts in a savory Lo Mein sauce. You’ll need two tablespoons of vegetable oil, some water, a skillet, and in 15 minutes you’ll have Chicken Lo Mein that tastes like you ordered it from a Chinese restaurant.
My husband gobbled up the Thai Chicken Coconut Soup, which has a base of chicken broth, coconut milk, lemongrass and lime, with sliced chicken, straw mushrooms and green onions. He also enjoyed the Salmon Teriyaki, which is lightly seasoned salmon on a bed of brown rice along with broccoli florets, red and green bell peppers and onions, topped with a sweet and savory teriyaki sauce. He didn’t care for the peppers, but thought the salmon was very well done. It comes in a parchment pouch that bakes in the oven.
My oldest son’s favorite is the Cantonese Steamed Cod with Ginger and Soy, which is lightly seasoned cod paired with broccoli florets on a bed of white rice, edamame and carrots, topped with a sweet ginger garnish and spicy soy sauce. My favorite, hands down, is the Drunken Noodles. People, these noodles are SO GOOD. I’ve never seen a dish like this on any Chinese restaurant menu, and I could eat it every week! Drunken Noodles combines rice noodles, roasted chicken and a medley of fire roasted onions, eggs and cherry tomatoes all dressed in a spicy-sweet soy, garlic, ginger and chili Asian sauce. I never expected a frozen entree that contained scrambled eggs and cherry tomatoes to taste so good!
I’m so glad that Schwan’s is offering one lucky MomReviews reader a prize pack of each of the five meals delivered right to their house!
