Vaseline Aloe Fresh Lotion Review

While I was at BlogHer, I had the privilege of attending an event hosted by Unilever, whose brands include Vaseline.  I was introduced to new Vaseline Aloe Fresh, a line of light, fresh lotions that leave skin feeling hydrated and refreshed all year long. If you find heavy lotions unpleasant because they leave your skin feeling heavy or sticky, Vaseline Aloe Fresh is perfect for warm weather or any time you want a lotion that feels light!

During the event, I sampled the Vaseline Aloe Fresh Moisturizing Gel, which glides on and pretty much instantly cools and hydrates your skin. It’s got a lightweight moisturizer that replenishes your skin’s natural moisture balance without feeling at all heavy or sticky. A 6.8 ounce bottle has a suggested retail price of $5.99.

Vaseline Aloe Fresh Protecting Lotion SPFI asked if I could get samples of the other two lotions in the Aloe Fresh line sent to me at home, they are Aloe Fresh Hydrating Lotion, and Aloe Fresh Protecting Lotion with SPF 15.  The Fresh Hydrating Lotion is fast-absorbing and non-sticky, with aloe and cucumber extracts. It smells fantastic but it nice and light, too.  It’s available in a 10 ounce bottle with a SRP of $2.99, and in a 24.5 ounce bottle with a SRP of $5.09.

Vaseline Aloe Fresh Hydrating LotionThe Fresh Protecting Lotion has SPF 15 to protect skin from the sun, leaves your skin feeling hydrated, and absorbs quickly. A 20.3 ounce bottle has a SRP of $5.99.   Having used both of them on my hands, arms, and legs, I can report that both lotions do absorb quickly and leave a light, fresh scent behind.  Until the air gets really dry and I need a heavier lotion, I’ll be using both of these daily.

Look for Vaseline Aloe Fresh Lotions at drug and discount stores, and online.  Thank you to Vaseline and Unilever for sending me the lotions to review!

Skin Care Products from Completely Bare

Summer might be coming to an end, but  smooth, hair-free skin is something we ladies want year-round.  I had the opportunity to try out three products from Completely Bare, a New York City spa chain that now offers products online.  These are the same products they use in their spa to remove hair, exfoliate, and treat skin. It’s like getting a trip to a New York spa from your own bathroom!

Here are the three products I tried:

Completely Smooth For Face is a hair inhibitor clinically proven to visibly diminish hair texture by up to 55%, density by up to 50% and length by up to 30%. You apply it once in the morning before your moisturizer and makeup, and once at night before applying any night creams. Hair will come in finer and smoother. I keep forgetting to put this on, so I can’t say yet how well it works. I’ll keep trying to remember so I can report back on it’s effectiveness :)

Bikini Bump Blaster cleansing pads treat and prevent ingrown hairs. Each pad contains a 2% salicylic acid acne medication plus glycolic acid. This is not a product we women WANT to have to use, but I can unfortunately attest to the fact that THEY WORK. I had a bad patch of razor bumps shortly after this product arrived for review. I swiped a pad over the area, put on loose pajama shorts and went to bed. The next morning the bumps were almost gone, there was no pain or itching. I used another pad before bed the next night and by that next morning, all the bumps were gone!

Completely Buff Exfoliating Grains from Completely Bare turn your favorite facial cleanser into a gentle exfoliating cleanser! Made with ultra-fine aluminum oxide crystals, Completely Buff lets you gently scrub away dead surface skin cells and blackheads to reveal smoother skin, while also getting any treatment benefits from your usual cleanser. Exfoliated skin allows makeup to go on more smoothly, too. It’s pricey at $32, but a tiny pinch is all you need. If it lasts you three or more months, that’s not a bad price to pay!

Visit the Completely Bare website to see more products available to purchase from this New York City spa. You deserve to pamper yourself!

Stridex Naturally Clear medicated pads

I might be 43 years old, but I still get blackheads and the occasional pimple. I’ve spent I don’t know how much money on “blackhead clearing” and “acne preventing” cleansers and scrubs. I can’t even say if any of them would have worked, because they all dried my skin out so much I had to stop using them. If a product makes my skin peel, I’m not going to use it.

Stridex sent me a jar of their new Stridex Naturally Clear Pads, and after using just one, I have to say to Stridex, you have made a convert out of me. Stridex Naturally Clear pads are part of the only alcohol-free acne pad line, which includes Stridex Maximum Strength, Essential, and Sensitive. The pads are 20% larger than typical pads and the triangular shape makes it easier to get the corners of my nose. The pads are textured, yet soft.

What I like best about Naturally Clear is that it has three essential antioxidants – white tea, pomegranate, and soy, ingredients known to promote stronger, healthier skin and a smoth, more even complexion. The pads also contain 1% salicyclic acid to clear up and prevent breakouts. But because there’s no alcohol, the pads can be used frequently with no over-drying or irritating the skin.

The press release that came in the package with the Stridex pads kept using the word “teen”. But I have to say, this is a great product for breakout-prone adults, too. I swiped a pad over my skin since I wasn’t wearing makeup, and it felt great. I always thought the cooling feeling from skin care pads came from the alcohol, but this pad felt cool on my face. There was enough liquid on the pad to cover my entire face from top to bottom, side to side, plus all of my neck. 20 minutes later, I touched my face, and it felt smooth and oil-free. I’m a fan now!

Stridex products are available at most food, drug and mass merchandisers nationwide. Stridex Naturally Clear pads retail for $5.49 to $6.49 for 70 pads. Pick some up for your teen or for yourself!
