Stay safe in the sun with BabySafeTravel

It might be September, but if you are still going to beaches or parks, you still need to protect yourself and your kids from the sun’s rays. We were at Lake Michigan last weekend, I didn’t expect the kids to want to swim in such cold water, but in they went anyway, and sure enough, my kids’ shoulders, backs, and faces got a little sunburned. If I had known they were going to want to swim, I would have packed sunscreen and Kaitlyn’s baby banz sunglasses, which still fit her from last summer.

Even just playing outside, kids should be protected from UV rays, especially if they burn easily. BabySafeTravel.com carries really cute sun hats, the baby banz sunglasses, and one-piece swimwear with a UPF rating of 50+. Baby Banz sunglasses have a comfortable strap that fits snugly around your child’s head, and the hats have a chin strap. My daughter likes to wear her sun hat around the house because she thinks it’s so pretty!

If you’re planning to travel this Fall with your kids, check out BabySafeTravel.com for travel tips, and to find the perfect set of Baby Banz sunglasses for your little one. Take it from me, pack sunscreen too, in case an opportunity to swim in a Lake just happens to come along :)

Save big money on glasses with Zenni Optical

If you wear eyeglasses, you have probably always bought them either from your Optometrist’s office or from a chain store like Lenscrafters. I know I always have. I never really thought about the extra costs that were being tacked on to the price, to cover the retail overhead of the store, the store’s advertising, and other fees. Zenni Optical sells glasses under their own brand name, so there are no charges for advertising. They use the same manufacturing process to create quality glasses, but because they don’t advertise, they don’t have to tack on huge fees to the prices. How much do glasses from Zenni Optical cost? How about $8.00? That’s right, glasses from Zenni start at EIGHT DOLLARS a pair.

They carry a wide variety of frame styles and colors that look similar to name brand expensive glasses, but at a tiny fraction of the price. Even Clark Howard, the popular radio talk show host who hosts the consumer advocate show called “The Clark Howard Show“, recommends Zenni Optical. His show focuses on ways for people to spend less money and avoid getting ripped off, and he calls the products and the customer service “fantastic”.

I had talked to one of the ladies who works at our Optometrist’s office about getting prescription sunglasses this summer. I have Transition lenses but they don’t block out all the sun and I have problems with glare when I drive. They were talking to me about how I’d have to spend $200 for prescription sunglasses! Zenni Optical only sells clip-on sunglasses, you have to buy a specific pair of eyeglasses with a clip-on to fit, but I think it’s worth checking out when I can get prescription sunglasses for $19.00 !!! If you wear glasses, you owe it to yourself to check out Zenni Optical so you aren’t spending more than you need to be on your glasses!

#3-Win a pair of Baby/Kidz Banz wraparound sunglasses

Why is it that kids love to try on sunglasses, but can never actually keep them on? I’m always trying to entice my daughter with a pair that I think she will like, ones with little characters on them from the TV shows she watches, but she won’t keep them on. Did you know that until children are eight or nine years old, they have no filters in the eye to block out UV light? The problem with cheap sunglasses is that with the tint in front of the eye, the lens opens up, which actually lets in MORE UV light and can harm your child’s eyes! Yikes!

The solution to both how to protect our children’s eyes and keep the sunglasses on has been solved by Baby Banz, the original Australian-designed wraparound sunglasses. The original Baby Banz fit children up to age 2, and Kidz Banz fit children ages 2-5. Both come in 13 different colors like Flamingo Pink and Rockin’ Red, with these important features:
*Lenses provide 100% UVA/ UVB protection
*Category 3 lenses offer high sunglare reduction and good UV protection
*Durable polycarbonate
*Ophthalmic quality; capable of being replaced with prescription lenses
*Neoprene elastic strap matches chosen color of sunglasses and allows for flexibility, breathability, and comfort
*Side adjustable Velcro® allows for years of wear as the child grows
*Frame is made of shatter-resistant polycarbonate
*Sporty, sleek design

Kaitlyn looks adorable in hers, and they are very easy to adjust to fit. I really hope she agrees to wear them when we go out to play all summer. I’d like to get her photo posted on the “Banz Fanz” photo page! Check out Baby Banz on MySpace too, to see all the great awards they have won. I’m naming Baby Banz a MomReviews Fabulous Find and sending them a button they can put on their site, too!
