My Mom was a loyal Talbots shopper. When I think of Talbots, I think of really conservative teacher clothes for that reason. But it turns out that Talbots carries high fashion pieces, which I learned from reading their red chair confessions blog. On the blog you find photos snapped on the streets of New York of chic young women wearing at least one piece of Talbots clothing. I was WAY off base assuming that Talbots clothing was only for, well, Moms. Through SocialSpark, Talbots challenged me to pretend I had $500.00 to spend and show them what I would buy. And then I started going through their site and realized that I could easily spend a WHOLE LOT MORE than $500.00! If I had $500.00 to spend at Talbots, here’s what I would buy:
This Scoopneck Print Tee in Raven-Moody Paisley, $56.00 (for the Woman’s Petite size)

These Cotton Bi-Stretch Pants in black, $89.50

These Driving Moccasins in black, $99.00

This GORGEOUS Quilted Shoulder Bag in Raven (it matches the shirt!), $89.00

And this Quilted Barn Jacket, also in Raven (can you tell I love that color?!), $180.00

Grand total, $513.50, so I would owe Talbots $13.50. I would gladly pay that if I could get everything else! What attracts me to the pieces I chose are the classic “preppy” styles. What I did learn from my Mom is that trends come and go, but some things are always in style, and it’s worth it to spend a little more for clothes you can wear for more than one season. Now that I’ve seen the clothes that Talbot sells, and that they aren’t boring (far from it!), I just might start buying a piece or two when I have a little extra in my clothing budget. And I think I’ll put that shoulder bag on my Christmas list
