Disney’s Tangled Widget and Blu-ray/DVD Giveaway – Ends 4/4

In Disney’s Tangled, Rapunzel is a girl with long magical hair who’s lived her entire life imprisoned in a tower by her greedy mother Gothel. Rapunzel (Mandy Moore) is optimistic and rarely complains about her circumstances, but for her 18th birthday she longs to leave the tower to see the floating lights that appear every year on her birthday. Her mother (Donna Murphy) refuses her request, but when thief Flynn Ryder (Zachary Levi) climbs the tower to escape his pursuers, Rapunzel (once she’s conked him on the head with a skillet multiple times) impulsively decides to trust the young man and convinces him to help her escape to see the floating lights.

What Rapunzel discovers is that she’s not just a girl in a tower, she’s a girl with magic hair and a beautiful singing voice who’s natural talents were never encouraged. To help children of all ages discover their talents, Disney came up with The Tangled Widget, which has a lot of fun activities. I especially like the Talent Discovery Tab. Click any of the glowing lanterns to instantly download a zip file. “Hair” gives you a PDF showing how to make a Rapunzel braid, “Cooking” gives you three Tangled-related recipes, “Art” has a coloring sheet and expert advice from Disney animators, and there’s much more!     On February 8th Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment released Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Masquerade with Mickey Mote. This release features four fun Minnie-themed adventures previously seen on the Mickey Mouse Clubhouse TV show, a never-before-seen episode, and a free paper mask with festive embellishments that kids can personalize. You can purchase the DVD by itself or with the exclusive Mickey Mote- a child-friendly handheld remote control, shaped like Mickey ears, that takes children’s viewing experience to a whole new level of play.

    Mickey Mouse Clubhouse: Minnie’s Masquerade starring Disney’s Fab Five — Minnie, Mickey, Donald, Goofy and Daisy – takes viewers on an all new adventure as they dress-up in their favorite costumes for Minnie’s Masquerade Ball. In this episode, Minnie needs some help getting everything ready for her party including making royal crowns for their costumes, searching for Sir Goofalot’s lost shoe, stringing up paper lanterns and much, much more. At the ball, Professor Von Drake hosts the great Clubhouse Costume Show and gives out prize ribbons to all the friends who have dressed up in some funny and fancy costumes. All it takes is a heaping helping of imagination…and the right Mouseketools.

    My five year old daughter is a big fan of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and especially Minnie “because she’s a girl and she’s pretty!” LOL. I like that it’s classic characters that have been part of American TV for decades, but with a modern twist. Most of all, I like that the episodes emphasize teamwork, problem-solving, and caring about friends.     This new Alice in Wonderland 60th Anniversary Special Edition takes viewers on Alice’s magical adventure through the Looking Glass, where she discovers an amazing world populated with odd and fascinating characters. On Blu-Ray, that world is presented in brilliant high-definition with crystal-clear sound. This collection comes specially-packed with never-before-seen footage hosted by Kathryn Beaumont (voice of Alice), an all-new interactive game and more.

    • Pencil Test: Alice Shrinks – Kathryn Beaumont introduces a newly discovered pencil test of Alice shrinking.

    The classic features include “Thru the Mirror Mickey Mouse” Animated Short, Original Trailers, a deleted scene, a deleted storyboard concept, and so much more!  Whether you are a Disney movie collector or are looking for a new movie to watch with your kids, I definitely can recommend the Alice In Wonderland Two-Disc Blu-ray/DVD Combo. Even my 14 year old son enjoyed watching it!
