Tangled Prize Pack Giveaway

Ever since we saw the first preview of Walt Disney Picture’s Tangled, which comes to theaters November 24th, the kids and I have been eagerly awaiting it’s release. It caught our eye because of the eye-popping animation, the storyline, and most of all, the characters.

When the kingdom’s most wanted—and most charming—bandit Flynn Rider (voice of Zachary Levi) is taken hostage by Rapunzel (voice of Mandy Moore), a feisty teen with 70 feet of golden hair who’s looking for her ticket out of the tower where she’s been locked away for years, the unlikely duo sets off on a hilarious, hair-raising escapade filled with adventure, heart, humor and hair—lots of hair.

We’re all familiar with Disney movies where a Princess – or an ordinary girl who becomes one – is the main character, but it’s not very often that a Disney movie has a male lead that isn’t a talking animal or a toy (Mr. Incredible comes to mind, that was 2004). So as the mother of two boys, I was excited to see that “Tangled” has a Princess and a male main character, Flynn Rider. It’s because of Flynn that my 11 year old son agreed to go with his sister and me to see it in the theater!

“Tangled” is Walt Disney Picture’s 50th full-length animated feature, and features new songs and a score by eight-time Oscar®-winning composer/songwriter Alan Menken (“The Little Mermaid,” “Beauty and the Beast,” “Aladdin,” “Pocahontas,” and, most recently, “Enchanted”). Lyrics are by Glenn Slater, a 2008 Tony® and Grammy® nominee for his work on “The Little Mermaid.”

There’s a bunch of “Tangled” clips on the Walt Disney Animation Studios YouTube channel, including a hilarious one with Flynn and a horse that doesn’t seem to like him very much. The expressions on the horse’s face are hilarious, and Kaitlyn and I both busted out laughing when they were on the bridge and the horse smacked Flynn in the chest with his hoof. This movie is going to be SO worth paying to see in the theater!

The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea

litttle-mermaid-2Ariel and Eric must hide their precious daughter Melody’s mermaid heritage to protect her from Ursula’s revengeful sister Morgana in The Little Mermaid II: Return to the Sea [Special Edition]. They hide Melody away behind a wall around the castle, and forbid her to learn anything about the ocean. When she becomes a teenager however, Melody gets too curious. Upon wishing that she was a mermaid, Morgana takes advantage of her wish to convince Melody to steal her grandfather’s Triton stick, which would give Melody power over the whole sea. Not much different from the first movie really, but for kids who’ve watched the first movie over and over, this is a great new way for them to see their favorite Little Mermaid characters plus meet some new ones. This sequel boasts new artists, four catchy tunes and some fun new characters, including Tip the penguin and Dash the walrus.

    Bonus Features:

    * Deleted Song: “Gonna Get My Wish” sung my Morgana

    * 1938 Silly Symphony Short “Merbabies” (8:34). Fun musical romp under the sea that was obviously a precursor to “Fantasia.”

    * “Little Mermaid II” DVD Storybook: have the story read to you, or read it yourself. Narrated by Jodi Benson (voice of Ariel).

    Games & Activities:

    * “The Little Mermaid II” Underwater Mer-Venture Challenge Game

    * “Little Mermaid II” Trivia Game

    * “What Am I?” Sea Creature Game, where the answers provide brief film clips of actual sea creatures. Fun learning adventure for little ones.

    * Sneak Peaks include upcoming 2009′s “The Princess and the Frog.” The setting is New Orleans during the 1920′s Jazz Age, and will mark the first traditionally animated feature since 2004′s “Home on the Range.”

For Disney movie lovers, and girls who love Princess Ariel! Pick it up on DVD today.

    Make Paper Flowers with Rosetta!

As told in the story of Tinker Bell, coming out tomorrow on DVD, there are different types of fairies responsible for different parts of nature. Rosetta is a Garden Fairy, whose job is to make the beautiful flowers that bloom. Fairies love when they find “lost things” in Pixie Hollow, and they usually find clever things to make from them. You can be just like Rosetta and enjoy Springtime any time of the year by creating your own blooming flower garden out of paper. Use these lost things found in your home to create your own colorful garden of flowers.

Have fun making your flowers, and don’t forget to pick up the Tinker Bell DVD tomorrow!
