Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber Review

Filed Under (House & Home, MomCentral) by User ImageElizabeth (Who am I?) on 10-07-2008

Tagged Under : action scrubber, cleaning, scrubbing bubbles

With four of us using one shower, the floor and tile walls get pretty grungy. I’m a fan of Scrubbing Bubbles Foam cleaner, have been for a long time, and I usually spray it on the wall and then wipe it with a sponge. It’s messy, and it can be hard to control where the foam sprays. So when MomCentral asked for volunteers for a product review of a new Scrubbing Bubbles product, I signed right up!

I received the Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber Tub and Shower Starter Kit, which comes with 1 Flexible, durable handle, 1 reusable storage tub, and 4 disposable cleaning pads with concentrated Scrubbing Bubbles cleaner. The handle is made of a thick foam material. It has two grippy strips on the bottom, which grab onto the strips on the top of the cleaning pads. You position the handle over a cleaning pad, then pick it up and use it to scrub a lightly damp surface like a shower, tub, or sink. The cleaner is smooth and has a great scent that made my bathroom smell terrific!

The handle is comfortable to hold, but one word of advice-wear gloves unless you want to get your hand wet. Also, while it’s easy to rinse the cleaner away in the shower or tub, if you use it on the sink or around your toilet like I did, you’ll need a damp sponge or paper towel on hand to wipe up the bubbles and the CRUD it lifts right up. I was so impressed with how shiny my sink was, that I used to to scrub around the rim of the toilet, and let me tell you, it was DISGUSTING under there. But now my bathroom smells better than ever!

You should be able to buy the Scrubbing Bubbles Action Scrubber Tub and Shower Starter Kit anywhere you find cleaning supplies, for around $6.00. That’s not a lot to pay for something that makes cleaning the shower easy and pleasant!

T-Mobile Ultimate Home Giveaway AND prizes selected just for my readers!!!

Filed Under (Contests, Uncategorized, giveaways) by User ImageElizabeth (Who am I?) on 09-07-2008

Tagged Under : Contests, giveaways, prizes, t-mobile, ultimate home giveaway, win a HOUSE

I am just beyond thrilled that I was asked to promote this amazing giveaway from T-Mobile@Home! They created this gorgeous custom widget that you see at the end of this post, made it green to match my theme and everything, it’s so pretty! And why? Because T-Mobile is giving away HOUSES, people, HOUSES!! And, to help get my readers interested in entering the giveaway, they created this special widget just for me.

AND, my readers can enter to win 16 prizes, 14 daily ones and 2 weekly ones. My giveaway goes from now until July 23rd! This week my readers can win a $100 Home Improvement gift card, next week it’s a $100 T-Mobile gift card!

You know how you love your mobile phone because you can use it to send and receive text messages, take and display photos, play music, even record short video? Well, wouldn’t it be totally awesome if you could do that with your HOME PHONE? Home phones should be able to do everything a mobile phone does, that’s my opinion! T-Mobile wants to know what YOU think!

Look at the widget I’ve placed at the end of the post, see where it says “Chime in with your opinion and you’ll be entered for a chance to win a gift courtesy of T-Mobile”? Click the “win a gift” link to see all the great prizes that are being given away weekly and monthly. WOWSA!

Okay, so now that you know what you can win, HOW do you win? It’s Easy! Right there in that widget, see the question “What features from your mobile phone would you like on your home phone”? That’s my question! Enter your answer, your name, and your VALID EMAIL ADDRESS, seriously, make sure you double-check when you type in your email address because it would be awful if you won and they couldn’t contact you. These are prizes chosen specifically FOR YOU, my dear readers, so enter to win!

As if that wasn’t awesome enough, at the bottom of the widget, see the link to the T-Mobile Ultimate Home Giveaway? There’s a link for Enter Now which takes you to the Ultimate Home Giveaway page. If you are an existing T-Mobile customer, you’ll see a link to click to enter the Home Giveaway, and you have until July 29th. If not, there’s information on the T-Mobile National Open House on July 12th, you can enter at one of the participating locations. A HOUSE, people! See the site for details.

So please say you will enter, and please spread the word about this! I’m not giving anything away personally, but Digital Influence Group went to all this trouble to make this beautiful widget for me, I’d hate to see it sit here empty. Please enter! Leave me a comment after you do and tell me what your answer was to the question, because I’m curious like that :)

Summer Safety Tips from the MommyDocs

Filed Under (Health, MomCentral) by User ImageElizabeth (Who am I?) on 08-07-2008

Tagged Under : advice from pediatricians, summer safety, sun safety

Who are the MommyDocs? 2 Moms, both “Docs”, with 2 husbands, 4 kids, 2 dogs, and 2 minivans! Jamie A. Freishtat, M.D. is a board certified Pediatrician, and Rachel L. Schreiber, M.D., FAAAAI, is board certified in both Allergy/Immunology and Internal Medicine. They want you to keep your kids safe this summer, with these Summer safety tips!

Five Simple Summer Safety Tips from the MommyDocs
•
Have a Sun Protection Strategy: The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends sunscreen with a minimum Sun Protection Factor (SPF) of 15. Look for products that provide “broad spectrum” coverage to protect against both UVA and UVB rays. Use this sunscreen routine with your child–daily application 30 minutes before going outside and reapplication every 2 hours (or sooner if swimming, toweling off, or sweating). Creating a routine will establish good habits for the future. In addition, don’t forget a wide brim hat, sunglasses with 99-100% UVA/UVB protection, and sun protective clothing.
•
Keep Pests off Your Little One: In the summer, many insects can bite or sting your child. For pesky mosquitoes and ticks, consider a DEET containing insect repellant. Apply sparingly to exposed skin (avoid backs of hands and around the eyes and mouth) and/or to clothing once a day. As the percentage of DEET goes up, the duration of action increases. To prevent unnecessary exposure, always use the lowest percentage that will last for the planned length of time spent outdoors. Never go above 30% or use on children under 2 months old.
•
Keep the Pool Cool and Clean: Small yard pools provide a great way for kids to have fun and cool down when the temperature rises, but they can also harbor germs, such as bacteria. To keep the pool free from unwanted “swimmers,” after each use disinfect it with bleach by cleaning with a solution of ¾ cup regular bleach to one gallon of water, then rinse well and dry thoroughly. Safety must: Always supervise children regardless of age when they are around any water; whether it’s a bucket, a small backyard plastic pool, or the local community pool.
•
High Heat Means Hydrate: Excessive heat exposure may cause your child to experience a heat-related illness such as heat cramps, heat exhaustion, or even heat stroke. How to prevent this: take breaks in the shade, avoid playing outside during peak sun exposure hours, and drink, drink, drink! Make sure your child is taking in plenty of fluids before he become thirsty.
•
Rid Rashes and Relieve Itchies: Running through the yard in bare feet, taking a nature walk on a trail, and picnicing in the park are some of the joys of warmer weather. But all of this outdoor activity can expose your child to a host of plants including those which cause poison ivy, poison oak or poison sumac. If an allergic reaction occurs, ask the pediatrician about an oral antihistamine and/or a topical skin care product such as a steroid cream or calamine. If the rash is extensive, looks infected, or is not getting better, call your doctor right away.

It’s not too early to start thinking about Halloween Costumes!

Filed Under (Products, Websites) by User ImageElizabeth (Who am I?) on 07-07-2008

Tagged Under : costumes, halloween, holidays, shopping

I know what you are thinking, geez Elizabeth, let us enjoy summer and not think about FALL and Halloween yet, but if you want to have really amazing halloween costumes for yourself or your children this year, why not start looking now before the selections get picked over? Kaitlyn is very into princesses right now, and loves to put on Tiaras, so I’m thinking she will love this Butterfly Princess costume that comes with a dress, wings, and a tiara:

With three kids to buy costumes for, and a burning desire NOT to have to settle for whatever is left over at Target, I like the idea of buying costumes now, so I can spread the three purchases out over a few paychecks and each of my kids can get just what they want. Of course, it’s hard to know whether Halloween in Michigan is going to be sunny and mild or windy, rainy and cold, so we tend to buy costumes that will still look good with a heavy turtleneck underneath and possibly a coat on top!

I never think I look good in halloween costumes and don’t usually dress up, but I do like this 50’s Poodle Skirt, even though the price only includes the skirt, not the jacket, top, or scarf, which are all separate. Still, it would be a fun costume to wear!

Wouldn’t that be cute with my hair in a high ponytail and some saddle shoes or penny loafers? Writing this post is making me actually excited for Halloween! BuyCostumes.com has tons of great themed and classic costumes for adults and kids, as well as accessories, hats, wigs, masks, decorations, and props. The prices are really reasonable and very competitive. Check out the site for your halloween costumes this year!

Parent Reviewers Giveaway-Trendy Tadpole Tees

Filed Under (Kids, Parent Reviewers, giveaways) by User ImageElizabeth (Who am I?) on 07-07-2008

Tagged Under : giveaway, hip tees, Parent Reviewers, trendy tadpole

I’ve recently started working with a new review group called Parent Reviewers, and I’m pleased to help spread the word about their giveaway. Trendy Tadpole (”hip tops for trendy tots”) is sponsoring a giveaway on Parent Reviewers of two very cool tops. It’s so fun to find clever shirts for Kaitlyn to wear, not that I don’t appreciate her need to adorn herself with as much Dora the Explorer merchandise as possible, but sometimes I want her to look more hip than that! She would definitely be a hit at the playground wearing one of Trendy Tadpole’s tees. I have my eye on the “Oh, Snap” frog shirt, and the “Daddy” tattoo shirt too.

To enter, stop by Parent Reviewers for all of the entry details!
